Justin Long, Jess Weixler, Tyler Labine and Californication‘s Addison Timlin head the cast of Lumpy, an indie film just getting underway in Minnesota. Michael Landes, Evan Jones and Shelley Long costar in the directorial debut of Ted Koland, who wrote the script. The film begins with a wedding in Arizona, where the groom (Long) and bride (Weixler) find their nuptials heightened by their life of the party best man, Lumpy (Labine). That’s until he dies at the end of the evening. As the couple cancels their honeymoon and heads back to Minneapolis to arrange a funeral, they slowly learn that Lumpy wasn’t who they thought he was. The film’s being produced by David Abbitt, Jen Roskind and Sharyn Steele. Koland has done extensive work writing and producing TV before taking his feature shot with Lumpy.

As a writer, I’m always rooting for projects that have actual humans in them instead of robots and flesh-eaters.
Anyone have a budget on this one?
its about 2 mill
not one of these actors appeals to me. what happened to actual stars?
Straight to DVD.
GIVE IT A CHANCE! DAVID ABBITT IS A TALENTED PRODUCER AND HAS WORKED VERY HARD TO GET THIS PROJECT GOING. IT’S TOO EARLY TO SQUASH HIS AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE’S HARD WORK.
Who likes Justin Long?
Seriously, is there one person out there who says “Oh, Justin Long’s in this movie, I’m paying money for it?”
He seems like a nice guy, no offense to the dude, but I don’t get that producers would cast him as a leading man.
I like Justin Long. Nonetheless …
I go to see a movie if it looks good, not necessarily because of who is in it.
I highly doubt the passion cry of everyone who’s bought tickets to see INSIDIOUS was, “OOOOOOoooooohhh! A Patrick Wilson movie! I must buy my tickets in advance!”
Or, you can take INSIDOUS and Patrick Wilson from the above mention, and substitute THE KING’S SPEECH and Colin Firth.
Neither of these actors are big box office draws, yet those movies have done well because they are good films and they’re marketed well.
Justin Long is OK in some movies but I think he was completely miscast in “The Conspirator”. Every time he came onscreen he took me out of the movie. It was as if a car from 1985 drove up in the Civil War movie. I just didn’t buy him in the part. Maybe others did.
I want more Mac commercials from Long. Not movies…
Justin Long – is a very appealing young actor and from what I understand the script is more actor driven than formulaic.
And to keep hope alive for young writer/directors – Ted K is one of the genuinely nicest people in this town and yes – he is very talented and equally important – he works damn hard. It’s so nice to see a guy that doesn’t talk shit, back-stab or bullshit his way through a career – get a shot to make a film. I’ll let his work stand for itself when it comes out – and I’m sure it will be great. But he is a great guy and it can really happen if you don’t give up or give in. CONGRATS Ted!
read the script, its a pass
Amazing that so many posts are down on the actor or script or whatever before seeing it. I agree with TKFAN and NICE but if the rest had their way movies would die entirely. Certainly “My Fat Greek Wedding” would still be an engagement.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. “ISHTAR” WAS PANNED BY CRITICS BEFORE IT WAS DISTRIBUTED. YET, IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE (IF YOU WERE SMART ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND IT) AND MOST PEOPLE WHO SAW IT, WEREN’T.
GIVE IT A CHANCE. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY SAY A FILM IS BAD WHEN YOU HAVEN’T EVEN SEEN 5 MINUTES OF IT?
I had the pleasure of working on this film. Ted Kolund – why aren’t there more out there like him? Justin Long nay-sayers? You’ll be eating the Big Crow.
Justin Long is a cockroach – he will never die. Ever. The rest of us will be out of the biz and Justin Long will be acting in stuff like betty freakin white. A cockroach may be equal to Long as an actor but he has greater staying power.
