Nothing newsworthy came out of the interview, but it’s nice to see Katie Couric and Matt Lauer back together; their chemistry is still there. Like the exchange when Lauer brought up the subject of Couric’s future: “Have you heard any good rumors recently?” Responded Couric, “No, have you?” She talked about the appeal of doing a syndicated daytime talk show. “What might appeal to me … is just the creative freedom to pick subjects and really dig deep,” she said. “It might be nice to have a little more wiggle room to show my personality.” As for the timeline for making the decision, “I don’t want to feel pressured from outside forces to make the decision quickly,” Couric said, adding that she expects to make up her mind “in the next few weeks.”

My feeling is that Katie Couric has always been overrated. I’m not saying she isn’t talented, but she’s overrated for whatever it is she supposedly does well.
There is definitely a closeness between these two, they work very well together. Katie was perfect for the early morning entertainment gig, she’s doesn’t have the chops to be a successful journalist, much less a serious anchor.
I think she’s insanely likeable… which is a real gift in our bummer ass TV world. I hope she takes advantage of that in her next venture. There is nothing wrong with making people feel good about themselves.
Katie Couric and Matt Lauer…so self congratulatory!
