While NBC’s extensive Royal Wedding coverage is spearheaded by the co-anchors of morning show Today, at CBS, it will be outgoing CBS Evening News anchor and former Today star Katie Couric who will lead the festivities, including live coverage of the event on Friday, April 29. Couric will also anchor a one-hour primetime special at 8 PM that night, airing against NBC’s special hosted by Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira.

Honestly, who cares?
I’ll never understand the fascination with such things. I don’t anyone who would watch this.
I am all a twitter with excitement.
I’ve never understood why people, who maintain they have no interest in a topic, always find the time to troll sites and attempt to foment comment wars. If you don’t care, why bother posting?
Leslie,
How do you know we “have no interest in a topic….to troll sites…why bother posting?”
On the contrary, we do care and read stories on DH about the industry. What you seem to be missing is that I don’t care what Katie Couric does now…at the wedding…or in the future.
She was bad as a news anchor, and her various talk show plans, etc. don’t kindle much interest either.
I care about stories, enjoy making comments…and, could care less about the Katie Couric saga.
If you are looking for only warm and friendly posts…stop reading show biz stuff as it is ripe with “who cares” moments on a daily basis.
OK we did our 5 minutes of coverage on Japan releasing radioactive water in the ocean so now let’s do 20 hours on a maeaningless wedding! I’d rather see Hef’s wedding than this sham of a wedding.
I know, isn’t it weird how people don’t prefer watching hours of depressing news about catastrophes? What’s wrong with them?! How dare they enjoy a beautiful romantic ceremony on a Saturday morning.
In 6 months when a geiger counter is going crazy when you walk by maybe you will care. War in Libya, how depressing, thank god for Charlie Sheen. Presidential elections, how boring, give us Lindsey Lohan. We are becoming a nation of uneducated fools that can be distracted after a minute.
Um, it’ll be on a Friday morning.
I would really like to see Katie Couric take over the pathetic mess that is Piers Morgan Tonight. Katie is a much better interviewerer and she could book the big guests! Thank about it CNN!
that’s a really good idea.
hope someone is paying attention.
I don’t know if Katie Couric is the right replacement but I can not stomach watching Piers either.
At last! Something she is qualified to do!
Excellent point.
NBC sends their morning show people.
CBS sends their network anchor.
Could you imagine Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather covering a royal wedding?
Personally, with Couric a “lame duck”, I would not have gone with her had I been a top CBS News executive.
Since it’s been rumored that Scott Pelley will succeed her, whoever will succeed Couric should host the Royal Wedding broadcast.
That way, he/she could get exposure and people might be likely to watch him/her when they take over the anchor desk.
I’m hearing Harry Smith rumors.
Perfect now I can avoid the coverage I don’t care about and the newscaster I don’t like at the same time. Thank god they aren’t wasting a real anchor on this fluff.
A great reason to watch another broadcast! She needs to retire.
Duke of Earl, winner!
Hef’s wedding is infinitely more important!
Still think Harry Smith would be a great candidate to take over the chair at the newscast and he should host the main coverage of this event.
See now there you go, this is what she is highly suited for. Moonves your gone that is good
Katie Couric & her guests totally polluted the royal wedding broadcast with their poorly timed chatter, interrupting the sublime music. They showed absolutely no class with their ignorant comments during what should have been a magical experience for all to enjoy. I DVR’d the wrong broadcast. I found out that NBC had not interruptions of the ceremony until the couple went behind the altar for the signing. Was there really no one at CBS with the good grace to keep the gossipy comments quiet so all the viewers could hear the ceremony as the guests did? How embarrassing! Katie, now you’re a hick!
