Former ICM head of TV Talent Mike Jelline has joined rival UTA as an agent in the talent department. Jelline left ICM on Monday after 14 years at the agency. “Mike is a great fit for us,” said UTA Board member Jay Sures. “He is passionate about the business, a great team player and someone who can be big part of our future, We feel lucky to have him join us.”
Jelline was most recently head of TV Talent at ICM, a position he had held since 2007. At ICM, which he joined in 1997, Jelline represented such actors as Aaron Paul, Vanessa Williams, Morena Baccarin, Jason O’Mara, Oliver Hudson, Ali Larter, Paul Wesley, Jordana Spiro, Skeet Ulrich, Natalie Zea, Jeremy Sisto, Jessica Paré and Steven R. McQueen. It is unclear which of them will follow him to UTA.

UTA has no clients, and it looks as though this will continue the trend.
no clients huh? you must work at ICM
to the dumb hollywood assistant who wrote the first post -
Did UTA Fire you???
way to go UTA! ICM is clearly falling apart with Agent’s fleeing by the week. Seems like UTA is making a big effort to boost their talent dept with Chris Hart and now Mike. maybe UTAs not so far away from clawing at CAA/WME anymore.
Either a UTA Assistant who drank a ton of “Jim’s Juice” or a former ICM Assistant who got canned. hmmm
Oooooh, good for you!
What a HUGE get for UTA! I can imagine the moral at ICM is at an ALL time low….way to go UTA!
So what does UTA have right now? An agent with no confirmed clients? WooHoo…go UTA. What a huge accomplishment!
Huge get for UTA.
Let me get this straight. UTA thinks ICM agents suck – until they get to UTA. That seems like a good business strategy.
They think most of them suck, yes. However, there are still a few there that don’t, but don’t worry, they will make their way to WME, UTA or CAA soon.
love your comment – so funny and spot on
Hey anonymous. A HUGE get?! Yeah, you’re in the business. Jelline was asking for $850,000. Everyone but UTA passed. Unless they package a show with a Jelline client and it turns into a hit they will never get their money back.
I’m sure ICM will be fine. Their moral is not at an ALL time low. Oh, there’s an e at the end of morale, genius. LOL.
I’m no so sure ICM will be fine.
Really is a liar
He was hotly pursued by every other agency that matters. He’s taking all clients with him. Look at his list!
You’re clearly a know nothing.
UTA is on a huge roll. Seems like everyone wants to work there now. They have clearly established themselves as the hot agency. Good for them.
Under Chris Silbermann’s leadership he has been responsible for the loss of Ed Limato, Robert Newman, Chris Hart, Chris Andrews, Richard Abate amoung others. When is someone going to wake up and question his leadership?? Or is this his master plan. Can someone please add some insight into this.
$850,000 a year for that list? pass? Even UTA got rid of Lesher when he made them no money surprised Ari didn’t bite on this apple, guess Venit costs to much now
I love how one person on here says he is making $850,000 and everyone takes that as FACT. Yes, people posting without their names anonymously usually are the one’s that have all the details. Must be true.
Right? Great point.
under chris silbermann’s leadership there has been no leadership. he has no finesse with talent, he has no sense of diversity, he’s clueless about music, below the line, endorsements and worst of all, he believes that he is an equal to WME, UTA, CAA. He has his head up rizvi’s rear end, which is why he is there. The investor doesnt care, he got a guy who would cut costs and got a return on his investment from the packages that really talented agents (none who are there anymore) delivered and was too short sighted to see that new packages could have been created. How sad to witness what has happened. ICM now is even less than Broder was then. How can Jeff Berg, who is a smart guy, stand to witness all this?
They should bring Wiatt back. LOL – Kidding…!
Jeff Berg will be there till he dies. Sad, but true.
Love watching all these wannabes rip eachother apart!
Nothing brings out the wannabes like agency stories.
Keep it coming!
CAA/WME passed on half his client list…why would they hire him?
And packages are driven by showrunners, not mid level talent.
I happen to know for a fact that Mike quit his job at ICM because he was being pursued by every agency in town, and he had to get out of that place. He chose UTA. Says a lot about UTA.
Really really? Worked with Jelline over the years and he was one of the more harmless former frat boys in town. But where did you hear that number? $850,000? I have six clients on series and no overhead and I don’t make that. He has to share profits with at least one other agent and agencies have huge overhead. That’s stupid money if it’s true. Or are you just a Gersh agent pissed that he said no to you?
That guys clients suck. Nobodies. And they may not follow him? Sounds like a flop.
Handsome man.
Good clients, great agent. Nice going UTA.
i heard he wanted to go to apa but they passed
U must work for apa. I don’t think so. He wouldn’t
even take a meeting with apa.
There’s no sugar coating this. This is a huge loss for ICM and a huge gain for UTA. I work at ICM, we’ve lost some great agents over the years, but this one really hurts. Mike is one of the most respected agents in town, has an impeccable reputation and is brilliant at his job. Anyone who doesn’t think he could have gone anywhere in town is trippin’. Good for UTA, you’re lucky to have him – and congrats Mike. You will be missed. Badly,
850K? That’s the most interesting thing I’ve seen on this board so far. Could UTA really have paid such a number? Not likely with a zillion partners to feed. And is so he better be the next Kapital out of the gate!
Every Agency has there strong points and weak points. Icm Just has alot of weak points right now. TV is not one of them. There TV talent and Lit is strong. There feature talent and lit is horrible. But, They are AMAZING in Below-The-Line and Books.
CAA – Only has 2 weaker points, not weak points, the sports dept. has been somewhat of money pit. And their TV dept is number 2. Not so bad for weak points. No BTL dept, could care less.
UTA. – Is good at everything, and only great at one thing. Once again Below-The-Line dept is Amazing. Totally worth having great little money maker.
WME – IS number one or two, or worst 3. at everything area, except one department. Their Below-the-Line dept is somewhere like the 8 or 9th best if that. It is sort of a running joke.
So what to do, Either WME or CAA swallow up ICM’s BTL dept, to put ICM further in the hole. Or WME follows CAA’s lead and realizes a below the line dept especially an embarrsing one, is not worth the offfice space and dumps it.
Or ICM starts to sign feature Lit Agents and Talent Agents, and stops making their agency about Great 2nd, and 3rd level departemnts.
If you want to be a big bad dog, is it about FEATURE ABOVE THE LINE PEOPLE, that is what the bigs are rated on. Has nothing to do with money, has to do with perception. Stars and Directors. I dont care how many packages and millions you have. Without Stars and Directors you cannot call yourself a major.
Something has got to give.
Well observed, Veritas. With no A-list stars or directors at ICM, I guess at makes them a bloated Gersh or Paradigm? and on the berg of it all, everyone in that building knows that he loathes silbermann, who in turn can’t stand him. But berg can’t stand to leave for retirement because he knows his departure means that agency loses ALL credibility as a “big dog” agency, and he’s just not ready to conceded that just yet. That place is a pit.
He’s real easy on the eyes
He is definitely a looker.
What’s sad is that it’s been the same song at ICM since the takeover, er merger, w/ Broder. Losing agents and bleeding prominent talent, leaving everyone to bicker over the scraps left behind internally. What a shame.
Some of the comments on this board baffle me, you people are clearly not in the business. This guy is a superstar, who is doing the right thing and going to a better place. Almost all of these actors are at worst leads of shows who make major bank, some of whom have been nominated for and/or won Emmys. Jelline was limited being at ICM, and he will blow up at UTA.
I continue to be baffled as to why ICM is so dismissed. I think their agents are smart, they are among the most well read, well prepared agents my boss and I deal with . Really odd, they are great. And I like their client list. They should have more stars, they deserve them.
