No wonder it’s been sitting around, it was directed by BRIAN ROBBINS of Norbit and Meet Dave fame! What was Eddie thinking? What was Dreamworks thinking? How many chances should a guy get?
January 13? That’s not hidden, that’s buried. Underground.
Eddie had a chance at revived cred after DREAMGIRLS, but it’s all gone now.
He went right back to the big paychecks for shit projects.
January 13th? Eddie Murphy? Brian Robbins? Dreamworks? oh my sounds like Eddie’s biggest bomb to date. This must of been Wiatt’s last deal for Eddie hopefully he will get some help from his new team and not Venit as he has no taste and can’t read.
Even though January is where the script is supposedly buried. The fact is, January gives it the best chance for success due to the fact that there is a clearly a lack of competition for the most part. Many a crappy movie have succeeded due to being given a January release date.
The real question here is why has Dreamworks gone back to the well ona team that obviously does not work. Brian Robbins is not a good director. Eddie Murphy is no longer a box office draw. So what was DW thinking?
Who’s in charge over there?
Amen @ brick. Two words to support that statement. Paul Blart.
dear haters: yes meet dave and norbit were awful, but I saw this movie a year ago and it’s actually rather touching/interesting. I kinda of admired it (and no, I’m not Eddie’s or Brian’s agent – god help me if I were).
that’s what audiences are screaming out for these days — “rather touching/interesting.”
tell me bobby g what do audiences scream for nowadays? Since you are such an expert why aren’t you making millions doing it? Just curious.
“why aren’t you making millions doing it?”
big assumption to make, tommyboy
No assumptions. Just the truth. Have fun in fantasy land Bobby.
Tommyboy might not like it, but you speak the truth. Touching &/or interesting might bring in Soul Surfer-level bank but that wouldn’t cover the catering budget on an Eddie Murphy picture. Murphy needs to rethink his career before it’s too late, though I suspect his upcoming picture with Ben Stiller will give him the hit he needs to break the drought.
I smell another Pluto Nash.
Oh boy, this looks as bad as The Adventures of Pluto Nash… Really? Producers at Dreamwork should be fired to green light something like this. Eddie, you are better than this. Select good projects.
why can’t he do a beverly hills cop movie? I thought it was all set to go and now nothing. I wish he never turned to kids movies because the eddie murphy that i love is the 48 hours/trading places.
Didn’t this shoot before Meet Dave came out?
Don’t need A THOUSAND WORDS, just three . . . IT WILL SUCK.
Shot in early 2008. Four years to make it to theaters. That must approach some kind of record for a big studio film.
People, people. Let’s not dismiss this yet. Steve Koren wrote it and he is hilarious.
Yep. I’m sure that, unlike other movies that have been on the shelf for years, they’ve been saving this one because it’s SO good that they had to find the perfect time to release it, and that perfect time didn’t roll around for four years. Definitely the reason for the delay.
I really hope Eddie finds that vehicle that will bring him back. I hope this is it but if not; I just know he can do it.
Come on Eddie and Brian, knock this mother**** out the park!
OMG! What a bunch of jaded haters! Leave Eddie and Brian alone. Be happy for them both. If you don’t like their work stay your ass at home. The fact is, millions of people will go see this picture in spite of what you think or say. I love Eddie Murphy. “Be happy for anyone doing anything” — Richard Pryor.
If you have nothing nice to say, keep that bullshit to yourself. Because you’re jaded and jealous. And they are rich and famous. Who cares if the movie sucks. They’re doing it and you’re not. Get over it!
For all those. With a foment on Eddie. U wood go for the loot also! !#!#$$
Ugh…. when are they going to stop doing these stupid dramedys?! I want to experience comedy….. and not a fucken lesson in life!
