After a strong start last week, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars result show (3.1/8 in adults 18-49, 15.6 million viewers) and new drama Body of Proof (2.4/6, 11.1 million) were both down by double digits in adults 18-49: by 28% (Dancing) and 23% (Body of Proof). A factor in the decline was ABC’s 8 PM anchor. Last night, the network aired the season (and probably series) finale of No Ordinary Family (1.5/4). That was flat with the series’ most recent original two weeks ago but down a whopping 44% from the Dancing recap show ABC aired in the hour last week. And, even with the declines, Dancing and Body of Proof still won their time slots in 18-49, with Body of Proof also finishing No. 1 in total viewers at 10 PM.
CBS’ NCIS (3.6/11, 18.8 million) somewhat inexplicably fell 8% from last week in the demo for a season low despite weakened competition at 8 PM. But, despite the fact that its lead-in NCIS: LA (2.7/7, 12.6 million) was a repeat this week vs. an original last week, The Good Wife (2.0/5, 10.6 million) was up a tenth (5%) from last week when it faced the premiere of the 10 PM slot’s new ratings leader, Body of Proof. With No Ordinary Family dragging down ABC’s average, CBS topped the night in 18-49 (2.7/8) and total viewers (14 million). NBC was status quo, with both The Biggest Loser: Couples (2.7/8) and Parenthood (1.9/5) flat versus last week. Fox and the CW aired reruns.

Body of Proof is not very good in so many, many ways. It won’t make it to season #2, and may not even complete one full season of production. Without DWS as its lead in…it would already be on the terminal list.
I have to agree, which is probably why I forgot to DVR it last night. Oh, well, nothing lost.
I think it will make it through a full season of production, considering they’ve already made all of the episodes…
Sadly, that is not a guarantee. See: The Whole Truth, V Season 2 episodes being pulled from online sources (I know it’s not the same, but somewhat similar)
“No Ordinary Family” has some of the best special effects ever concocted for a prime-time show, and the cast is down right cool. It would be great to see what might happen in a season two, but nobody seems to know what is up.
It’s fun.
Too bad about No Ordinary Family. It was a great show. Body of Proof on the other hand is an absolute mess.
It is notable that No Ordinary Family had started to gain some of it’s audience back. The last 3 episodes on it’s regular night had 4.26, then 5.35 and finally 5.69 million viewers.
who died on it last night?
Dr. King
Detroit 1-8-7… better than any of them.
Nellie, how about taking the lead and asking the advertising community, advertisers and Nielsen to move along in the 21st century and publish the A25-54 RATINGS along with the A18-49 RATINGS. The way it is now, the A18-49 rating seems to be more important than the Total Audience. Not every product skews to A18-24. When I was a client and the product skewed W18-49 I had the agency give the media an older audience so that the price for 18-49 cold be “hondled” down.
Does anyone think The Good Wife is in trouble?
I keep hearing that Traffic Light is the darling of Fox execs. It shouldn’t be. It’s a bad show. The characters, other than the guy with the glasses, aren’t quirky. They’re fools. One or two per cast may work, not five.
No Ordinary Family was a good show. Despite the news of the cast finding other gigs, I hope it returns.
I liked the fact that the time I missed an episode, the next time I tuned in I was not completely lost. Every episode had a beginning and end, hardly any carry over.
No Ordinary Family was NOT ordinary. It got to be a great show with a great cast. The programming geniuses need to try it next season at 8PM fri nights! It wld really work in that time slot!!
“Body of Proof” was better last night than it was in its previous two outings, but it still had problems. It benefited last night from foregoing another awkward mother/daughter scene that no sane person in real life would try.
“No Ordinary Family” was good, but not great in its finale. The finale episode was a microcosm of the season as far as great ideas fighting through a lack of pacing and poor characterization. Like my brother said yesterday after watching it, the conclusion of the finale should have been the conclusion of the first story arc.
No Ordinary Family never caught on with audiences, partly because it couldn’t mesh the family dramedy with the violent superhero action. It was like two tonally different shows airing in the same hour!
The characters were shallow & sketchy. The plots were filled with all sorts of huge gaping logic gaps — Joshua was a cold murderer who magically changed into a nice guy (and we’re all supposed to forget that he assassinated that helpless Chinese scientist), Jim Powell obsessed over keeping the family’s secret but never wore a mask, Stephanie seemed unwilling to throw a punch or even bonk anyone on the head with a stick… At times it was too gory for an 8 o’clock show (like the ep where the wolf-guy gruesomely slashed up the face of a female victim in the park, which of course upset my 10 yr old daughter and caused me to immediately change the channel).
Whoever was in charge of the scripts did a poor job.
BODY OF PROOF
I Thought that last night was better in terms of character dev. I really like the awfulness of the Mother daughter relationship. Most parents who abandon their kids arent always entitled to a hallmark moment. Plus, Dana and the young actress playing her daughter act it quite well. I just want them to find their own “take” on the procedural ..It still feels stale. But, the cast is quite refreshing.
It’s too bad they don’t bother to update. NCIS finals up .2 – so no season low…
No Ordinary Family is supposed to appeal to which demographic? Lobotomized sci-fi fans? Although, I think that it would be funny if the characters on Parenthood gained super powers…and killed each other off. I heart Bonnie Bedelia though. And the Gilmour Girls lady, is hot. The blonde sister is hot too. OK, they kill off the annoying men, except for Craig T. Nelson.
been there done that’s comment about Body of Evidence is perfect. And I suggest yet another drinking game to play while watching it. Everytime somebody feels like groaning, take a drink instead.
I watch the three 10 pm Tuesday night shows, and the best show is unfortunately the lowest ratings which is too bad. Parenthood is so good on so many levels that it’s almost addictive. Everyone I have raved about it to are are now avid fans. The show has such a genuine feel and the music is perfect. I hope this great show will be renewed for multiple seasons. I am giving Body of Proof a chance, it’s okay, I will continue to DVR it, but Parenthood gets my 10:00 live audience. Based on quality, Parenthood should really have the best numbers. I hope the Emmy nominations will pour in for the actors on this show. The only problem will be choosing a winner from the very talented cast.
No ordinary family is my favorite showin the world! I have watched every episod 20 times!! I have never found a show as good as No Ordinary Family.
