Singing was king last night as both American Idol and the musical episode of Grey’s Anatomy scored big in the ratings.
ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy (4.8/12, 12.7 million) was up from last week by a whopping 30% in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers, despite its lead-in, Wipeout (1.9/8), falling 17% to tie its season low. Not much of a Grey’s bump for Private Practice (2.7/7), which was up only 4% from last week.
American Idol’s result show (6.7/10, 22 million) was also up from last week, by 5% in 18-49 and 3% in total viewers. Howie Mandel’s new flash mob reality special for Fox Mobbed (3.8/10) drew the largest audience and posted the highest retention for a reality show following Idol in two years.
CBS’ series were down across the board. The Big Bang Theory (3.6/12) was down 5% from its last original on March 10 for a season low. Rules of Engagement (2.3/7) was down 18%, also for a season low. CSI (2.8/7) was down 10%, The Mentalist (2.8/7) down 3%. NBC aired only one original, comedy Perfect Couples (1.0/3) at 8:30 PM, which was down 38% from last week, when it had an original lead-in, to post a series low.

Mobbed was awful and dated. Fox is about two years too late on the idea…
Glee wanna beez.
Although I have never seen ‘Glee’… I do know I would (again) cease to watch “Glee’s Anatomy” If this were to be a regular thing. I do believe, however, that this episode would have never worked without the seriousness of this plot-line. Still, I have watched this episode twice and remain uncertain about whether or not I really enjoyed it.
Didn’t care for the musical episode, but Greys is one of the stronger drama’s on the air. Sharp writing is always the key to successful longevity and Greys is never dull.
Grey’s hasn’t been good since Isiah Washington left
I’ve never watched Grey’s, but I saw Sara Ramirex sing on GMA. She is so good it took me an hour to come back to my senses. The moment she shook the life into her own legs was stunning. I bought her new just released EP on Itunes. So glad I got to see that episode, not enough to watch again, but glad I saw it.
Grey’s was awful awful awful. Every time they burst into song I laughed and changed the channel. People tuned in because they were curious, not because it was good.
I’m with you. I kept watching, but couldn’t help burst into laughter every time the singing started…
Callie’s singing almost worked since she was out of body…. I wish they would have left it at that… but everyone else! oh my! it was funny, could have made for a great drinking game!
I LOVED it! Thought it was amazing… Sarah is just wonderful. Grey’s never fails to surprise me. Loved the voices!
The Emmy line forms behind Grey’s Anatomy’s dramusical! What a class act! Oozing talent from all quarters!

Sara Ramirez absolutely stole the show on Grey’s Anatomy last night. This musical episode was innovative and interesting, although it was a little tedious.
That episode was an example of Grey jumping a great white sharh…. no, more like jumping a whale. Somebody should’ve reminded them about the show “Cop Rock”….
@ anonymous- Hate to burst your bubble but hopefully one day you’ll realize that going from one entertainment website to the next, writing insipid rants, won’t change the fact that Grey’s Anatomy is the best written drama on tv. Seriously, you believe that by saying over and over again on the internet that Grey’s was horrendous, jumped the shark, and that you laughed and changed the channel every time they sang a song, that somehow people are going to be impressed by that? Are that people are going to find validity in such ridiculous behavior? Spew all the hate rants you want, all the negative thoughts you want, a show that 7 years in still commands a 5.0 demo rating and 13 million viewers depends solely on the stength of its cast of writers, directors, producers, editors, and ensemble cast of actors and supporting staff. Sorry (and this is me totally bursting the bubble for you), there’s nothing you can write on any entertainment website that can compensate for word of mouth amongst its true fans in the 18-49 demo. IF the show was bad, they’ll let you know! lol-idiot.
