While he continues to do his tedious fan dance as to who will judge the U.S. X Factor, Simon Cowell has reportedly told Brit broadcaster ITV that he will not be judging this year’s home-grown version. According to the Daily Mail, Cowell has dropped out because of health fears. Coping with running two X Factors on either side of the Atlantic, as well as producing both versions of Got Talent and ITV’s new game show Red Or Black, is too much –- even for the famously workaholic Cowell apparently. ITV mainstay presenters Ant ‘n’ Dec will host Cowell’s new game show, which begins filming in June for a September premiere. Even Cowell’s mother Julie has told him to slow down in case the 51-year-old has a heart attack. Syco tells me that “everything is still being discussed.” Reps for co-producer Talkback Thames and ITV declined to comment on the Mail story, describing it as “speculation.” But one insider tells me that you just have to look at how much overlap there will be between the runs of the Fox and ITV versions to see that it is just not humanly possible, even if Cowell only does the live shows in the U.K. and gets a private plane from ITV to shuttle him between Los Angeles and London every week. The U.S. and UK versions of X Factor both start airing in August and reach their finales at Christmas. Cowell would have to be in two places at the same time for much of the week, I’m told. Deadline revealed last September that Cowell’s focus on the U.S version of X Factor had created “a ticking time bomb” for ITV chiefs. Of the other X Factor judges, also not confirmed to return is Cheryl Cole, increasing speculation that she would join Cowell on the Fox version of the show.

Why don’t they just film the US X-Factor in New York? It would be an easier commute for Cowell and it would help differentiate the show a little from Idol.
I hope that this is the last ever season of the UK X Factor and that they finally cancel this series. I am bored of it.
It was clear from the word go that it would prove to be difficult to do both shows. Then again, why was ITV so adamant on having the show in the fall and not in January 2012 as was suggested?
Cowell is doing all he can to launch X Factor in America and that’s where his priorities are.
Losing Cowell & Cheryl will be a huge blow to ITV. But i guess after seeing how well ‘Idol’ is doing without Simon, ITV may be willing to take the chance and get a new judging panel.
Noooooooooooooooo – please say it is not so. Cowell is X-Factor and X-factor is Cowell. Simon you must do both shows, maybe gas up you G6 and fly – you can use the plane for sleeping.
Update from France!! I just saw on the web, Simon on the tv recently. OMG or Oh mon dieu as we say! He looks fantastic – I saw he had cheek fillers injected and guy liner. It is great when a man is still trying to look good. I’m really excited to see how he changes his look in the coming months. Maybe he will get hair extensions or go blonde! It will be exciting no?
Why does everyone say losing Cowell and Cole would be bad? Wasn’t there two other judges, Louis and Dannii too – don’t they count? wasn’t Dannii Minogue the winner last season? and people were calling for Cole to be sacked! And why is Cowell always mentioned with Cole, like a Double Act. Pathetic.
X Factor is boring now – after last season’s horrible ‘fix’ I hope they take it off British TV.
just had a ? if someone puts in the application for the xfactor on january 10th will they be eligable for the actual xfactor show
