Kevin Hart will star in Think Like A Man, the Screen Gems comedy based on Steve Harvey’s bestselling 2009 book Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man. The book is a male-perspective self-help manual for relationships, with topics that included everything from why men cheat, to why men are in the fixing business and not in the talking business, to how to get the wedding ring and why independent women should reconnect with their girlish side to make their men feel necessary. Like I said, it’s from a male perspective. In the film, Hart will play a self-professed relationship expert who is quick to give advice to his crew of friends, even as he watched his own marriage crater and head toward divorce. The comedy’s scripted by Keith Merryman & David A. Newman, and Screen Gems’ Clint Culpepper is out to directors for a July production start. Will Packer’s producing through his Rainforest Films banner and Harvey is exec producing with Rushion McDonald and Rob Hardy.
Hart just signed to star in the Nick Stoller comedy Five Year Engagement for producer Judd Apatow and Universal. He most recently starred in Screen Gems’ Death at a Funeral and Little Fockers. Harvey is introducing Hart as the star of his movie on Harvey’s syndicated radio talk show. Hart’s repped by UTA and 3 Arts.

Harvey has ostracised himself from the black community with this book. Straight to DVD this goes
Agreed. It’s black women specifically who hate him now. they drive the market and no one will turn out. also, it’s a great idea to get two white men to write a book about black relationships.
Winning!
who said the book is about only black relationships… its about men period, regardless of what color the writers are.
Are you sure? Black women are lining Steve Harvey’s pockets with this book. They are taking relationship advice from a COMEDIAN. A comedian with divorce drama in his own past. And making him rich in the process. They *far* from hate him. But then again, Black women also idolize a woman with no man or kids (Oprah), and a gay man who dresses like his own grandmother (Tyler Perry).
Black America is doomed.
First of all,Steve had experience to share and knows one thing – Men. Second,Oprah has a man and is very successful and can buy your a.. Third, nobody cares about what Tyler Perry is…just that he support the African-American community and they all produce shows for our enjoyment….not yours….biooooootch!!!!!
Well, Well, Well…2weeks at number 1 and made almost 90million…look at your ass now!
It’s it strange that Hart was picked to star before they hired a director?
Anon, such an easy fix, you build the market from the female point of view in your trailer, tv spots and print… I was a part of the marketing team that worked on Waiting to Exhale, so I know this can be done even if the point of view is from the male. We made Waiting a date movie and a female bonding time at the movies at the same time. This is not a cross over movie idea but you can get some with kick ass funny marketing. I was nominated for a Keyart award for Waiting to Exhale so trust me this is a piece of cake. Make a great movie and they will come.
That’s a very good point.
Relationship advice from a man who divorced his wife then “found” Jesus, married his former mistress and engages in the lowest common denominator of country fried chicken, black comedy on the radio every morning? I would hate to miss any movie Kevin is in; especially with him playing a leading roll. But I’m definitely passing on this one.
When will this movie b out…… I would to see it
Love Kevin Hart, but this sounds like Hitch and Why Did I Get Married had an unwanted baby.
I LOVE Kevin Hart!!! Bought the book, never finished it though.
I definitely wasn’t feeling the book either. Couldn’t finish it
Wow i think it is a excellent idea for Kevin Hart to star in the movie. Both Kevin and Steve are my favorite commedians. This should be a blass.
I think this will be a great look for Kevin Hart as well as Steve Harvey. Also I really don’t think that this book was written based on race men from all walks of life can relate to this book in some way. I can’t wait to see the movie….
Judge not lest ye be judged. No one is equipped to judge Mr. Harvey or his situation or how he came to do wwhat he is vdoing. God gives you experiences (good and bad) to all so they will be equipped to deal with the blessings he will bestow when he feels it is time to do so. I have met Mr. Harvey on several occasions and he has been nothing but nice and a blessing to all he comes in contact with. Leave him alone.
This article is about Kevin Hart; that’s where th focus should stay. Congrats to the Philly native! Way to represent!
Definitely not judging. Just stating the facts blackmansqueen. Actions are indicative of a person’s character and his/her perception of themselves; and how they view the world. Steve only knows what his true intentions were in regards to his ex-wife, his mistress and his religion. Unfortunately the pattern of a Black celebrity that emerges with wealth and fame, disses the woman that was with him through all of the lean times, finds Jesus and props himself up as a role model is all too familiar to this reader. His message is simply not congruent with his actions.
In regards to what the focus should be…I respectfully disagree with your assessment that the focus should just be on Kevin. The article is about Steve Harvey’s movie and Kevin Hart as the star. You choose to focus on Kevin. I chose to (mostly)focus on Steve. The article is about both of them. No harm, no foul on either end…we both were on point regarding the content of the article in our comments.
Also judging cuts both ends of the spectrum. As you stated you met Steve and found him to be nice and a blessing to all he comes in contact with. That is judgement based upon your experience with Steve. Steve may or may not have the intention of being a “nice” person. He may just have the ability to create the perception that he is a nice person and get people caught up in that perception. But you certainly have no way of knowing his intentions. You’re simply making a judgement based upon your experience with him. To others, he may not be perceived as a nice person or a blessing. I’m sure his ex-wife has a different perception of Steve Harvey.
And as far as leaving Steve alone….I don’t think so. I use Steve as an example to mentor other young brothers in the entertainment industry of what not to do when one becomes wealthy and famous; specifically one does not dismiss those that were there for you 24/7/365 when you were coming up just because you’ve reached mega-stardom. Honesty, integrity, love and commitment still mean something. Praying and forgiveness is not a substitute for engaging in right actions, it is a compliment to it.
Blackmansqueen, If Black women actually respected everyday, non-celeb Black men, Steve Harvey wouldn’t be on the best-seller lists.
ScreenGems already made this movie once. It was called “Breakin All the Rules” starring Jamie Foxx. It flopped. So will this. Boring!
