Sean Bean is set to co-star opposite Ashley Judd in ABC’s action series Missing. It centers on Becca Winstone (Judd), a devoted single mom who, after her 18-year-old son disappears in Italy, takes it upon herself to travel to Europe and track him down. It soon becomes clear that Winstone is a former CIA agent who will stop at nothing to bring her son home alive. Bean will play the regular character of Becca’s husband Paul, who was blown up in front of his son but will appear throughout the series in flashbacks. Bean segues to Missing, which will begin filming soon in Prague, from HBO’s Game of Thrones. He starred on the first season of the fantasy series, playing Eddard Stark.
James Pumphrey (Players) has been added to the cast of NBC’s untitled Emily Spivey comedy pilot, an irreverent look at parenthood through the POV of Reagan (Christina Applegate), an acerbic working mother, along with her stay-at-home husband and opinionated parents. Pumphrey will play Reagan’s assistant, who regales her with stories of his horrible dating life. Pumphrey, repped by CAA and Principato-Young, will next star in the indie The High Road.
Collette Wolfe (Cougar Town) has landed the female lead lead in the NBC comedy pilot Lovelives in a recasting, replacing Amanda Loncar. The multi-camera comedy revolves around married couple Tim (Ryan Hansen) and Holly (Wolfe) who, along with Tim’s siblings Blake (Sean Maguire) and Maddie (Stella Maeve), and Blake’s sarcastic ex-wife Kate (Smith Cho), navigate the twists and turns of love in New York City.
Kaitlyn Dever (Justified), Molly Ephraim and Alexandra Krosney have joined ABC’s untitled Tim Allen/Jack Burditt comedy pilot, playing the smart, energetic youngest daughter of Allen and Nancy Travis. Krosney will play the older daughter, Ephraim – the middle daughter. Dever, repped by Osbrink and Matt Sherman Management, can next be seen in HBO’s Cinema Verite.

Ashley Judd can get on my last nerve with her holier than thou style of acting but Sean Bean joining the cast makes this a must watch for me.
Sean Bean is such a terrific actor, I hope they use him to his full potential. Can’t wait to see this show and I never watch network TV.
I can’t believe that Missing has been canceled, as it was a great mini series. I was looking forward to seeing what happened next. They cancel Missing, something you can believe in and sink your teeth into, and leave all these under rated mini series on. There are at least twenty people alone that I knew that was watching the series and was waiting to find out what happened to Ashly Judd. She is good at what she does, she is fantastic, and represents mothers that would go to great lengths to get there child back. Ashely Judd is a great actress. Who ever decided to cancel this was wrong to do it. Put the series back on….we are waiting to see what happens next. There was never a dull moment. Seriously….put it back on.
So, ABC is now doing edgier programming now that Stephen McPherson is gone? A lot of these ABC dramas sound really great. Much better than the McPherson’s shows that he embraced. Lee is doing a good job seemingly.
Er…is there an implicit spoiler here?
Haha, good point — I guess we know what happens to him on GoT…
I think it’s fancy contractin’. I think they are calling Missing a 13-episode mini-series in its first ssn.
I remember the first time I saw Sean Bean in a film called (if I remember correctly) ‘Stormy Monday’ directed by Mike Figgis. He was awesome and has build a really interesting career. He deserves all best as he has great screen presence.
Damn, for anyone who hasn’t read A Game of Thrones, Sean Bean being cast in another series is somewhat of a spoiler as to the fate of his character.
Maybe he’ll be able to do both??
) (Yes, I have read the books.)
Not necessarily… there have been several actors who successfully balanced an HBO show with a regular series. Christopher Meloni juggled both Oz and SVU. I want to say Tim Omundson was still on Deadwood when he started his current show.
And yes, I’ve read the books, too. But I have no idea what this series is going to cover and not cover this season.
Hate to say it, but your comment was the “spoiler”. Bean was working on at least one other project (I think even 2) simultaneously with filming Game of Thrones. It’s quite common for (good) actors to work on multiple productions at the same time…it’s all about juggling schedules…oh well. Viewers would have figured it out in time anyways
Love Sean Bean. Loved him in all the Sharpe films and will watch him in pretty much anything. It’s about time he started getting some really good roles as he’s a fantastic actor.
this is Taken. have people run out of original ideas?
This is not Taken. It’s great with Sean Bean, but I am afraid they are not using him to his full potential. Let Sean be himself, be the actor we all know he is. I think the success of the story depends on Sean. Let’s see your best Sean.
Don’t make him do things, like kissing bellies, that might not be to his nature. We all like Sean Bean as he is.
How good is the script for Missing. It’s about time we had edgier programming on network tv.
Luc (love the name), I had that exact same thought. They just switched the gender of the parent and child. Other than that, it’s a rehash of “Taken”. Maybe edgier programming from ABC, but not original programming.
Pretty much my thoughts…………role reversal ‘Taken’.
I look forward to the day when this town becomes something other than a “Taken” clone factory.
Well shoot.
I have been looking forward to Game of Thrones for a few months and now like a week from premiere this bit of casting gives away what happens to the main character of Season One before it starts.
You’d think these international terrorists would have learned to kidnap someone OTHER THAN the child of a former government operative.
James Pumphrey is finally on Deadline.
Considering Bean is usually “dead man walking” in most things he’s in, it’s rather a twist to have him dead at the start.
So this is like Taken: The Series?
Why….Why…He is SOOOO AWESOME on GAME of THRONES..why put his talent as a Flashback Charachter on this stupid PILOT…HE was GAME OF THRONES….HE DESERVES his OWN SHOW…one of the best actors I have ever seen…ABC is not good enough for his talents…Game of Thrones Best Show EVER should have been a movie….They lost the show with E Starks Deatth…THE WHOLE SHOW
