2ND UPDATE: The judge took it under advisement.
UPDATE 2:15 PM: Wow, this hearing took all morning, broke for lunch, and resumes any minute this afternoon. So far the only decision made is that the judge is letting a lone video camera film in the courtroom. Team Sheen and the media wanted it, Team WB/Lorre didn’t. Charlie won.
8:30 AM: This morning, attorneys for Charlie Sheen, Chuck Lorre, and Warner Bros return to Santa Monica Superior Court where Sheen’s counsel, Marty Singer, will again try to avoid arbitration for his client in the dispute against WB and Lorre, this time in front of the original Judge Allan Goodman. It’s unclear whether Goodman (who is also presiding over Sheen’s $100M state court litigation and had been on vacation) will rule at once or take the matter under advisement. In any event, legal observers consider Singer’s efforts to be a long shot, as LA County Superior Court Judge Jacqueline Connor already denied Marty’s request to stop arbitration from proceeding. If Judge Goodman rules in WB’s favor, JAMS-appointed arbitrator Richard Neal will oversee the dispute. If Judge Goodman rules in favor of Sheen, WB will have the right to immediately appeal the ruling, which would automatically stay Sheen’s lawsuit for at least two years. Basically, public trial v. private trial.

Singer is just a grandstander
He makes me embarrassed to be an attorney
Charlie, please get it together!
Not sure where the “automatic two year stay” bit comes from, but let me make a prediction: if Charlie succeeds in getting the arbitration clause tossed, this will settle out long before anything else happens, as WB will never risk having to go through a jury trial, and California courts aren’t very hospitable to arbitration clauses in the employment context, which means if they lose at trial court, they haven’t got much of a chance on appeal.
Singer is great when you need him.
Jealous.
You should be embarrassed about being an attorney anyway.
Judge Goodman stated that the San Gabriel mountains could be reforested with all the paper used to date on this trial…
LOL
Hey BobBarnett—you needed Marty Singer’s existence to render your
embarrassed?
When someone refers to themselves as an “attorney”, duck!
Cause they’re just a lawyer trying desperately to appear dignified.
Charlie go back to work and shut up
JAMS is a joke. They will rule for the party that can give them the most future business, and that’s Warner Bros. JAMS isn’t even subtle about it. My experience had them high-fiving the other side in my case – literally. It took me hundreds of thousands of dollars to get their ruling thrown out.
Good luck Charlie is JAMS is involved.
In any other industry Sheen would have been fired for showing up so hung over that they had to change the cue mark locations, b/c he need to lean on furniture…I am sick & tired of spoiled & coddled “stars” carry on.
The man makes $46 million for 1/2 years work…he therefore should have nothing to complain about…he is drunk, a foul mouthed drug additct…whose only talent is either imitation white trash or being white trash!
Embarrased by what exactly? The outrageous salary/compensation or the fact that this nation makes it so wealthy/powerful people can’t make it without someone like me negotiating, defending, or offering some kind of counsel? Not embarrased at all, buddy.
