Wild Hogs director Walt Becker, co-creator/executive producer of TBS’ first hourlong comedy series, Glory Daze, is back at the cable network with another hourlong comedy project, U-Boat. The buddy detective comedy was written on spec by former George Lopez executive producer Dave Caplan, who recently served as a consulting producer on another buddy crime show, TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles. Becker is executive producing U-boat with feature producers Bryan and Sean Furst (Daybreakers). Becker is attached to direct. (He also helmed the pilot for Glory Daze, which was picked up to series that ran for one season.) Like Becker, Caplan also has written a pilot for TBS before, an untitled 2008 half-hour comedy starring Valerie Bertinelli. Both are repped by CAA.

I guess that satisfies their zest for a comedy cop show. Congrats to Dave Caplan.
Wow this is going to be bad. In addition to the comedy classic WILD HOGS, you forgot to mention Disney’s classic blockbuster OLD DOGS – oh wait a sec, that one bombed. Ok, to be fair WILD HOGS made a crap load of money from 40 and above year old women getting all hot for 50-60 yr old men in leather riding motorcycles. But talk about quality…. really, how to people like this continue to get work in Hollyweird.
Didn’t GLORY DAZE get canceled cause it stuck so bad?
no, glory daze got canceled because no one knew it existed. if the network ran half as many promos for that show as it does for all of perry’s it would’ve gotten the viewers of fx’s the league. unfortunately, tbs didn’t really give it a chance to be discovered in season 2 – the show itself was hilarious.
Same with MY BOYS. Great show. Nobody knew it was on.
If at first you don’t succeed…
Failing up! (But only if you have a penis and that frat boy mentality.)
Yeah, and white. That part is very important at Disney.
There was an incredibly large marketing push for Glory Daze, did you not see TBS during baseball playoffs? It was Glory Daze and Conan constantly.
Dave Caplan is a brilliant writer and a great human being. If there’s any justice in Hollywood, he deserves huge success, as opposed to the hack writing on shows like OUTSOURCED.
I would’t go as far as Dave being a brilliant writer. But he certainly is handsome. And I wouldn’t call OUTSOURCED hack writing. It’s just not funny. Hack makes me think they use old bits I’ve seen over and over. They have no funny bits. They have no funny. Maybe the should’ve… wait for it… outsourced the jokes!
