A week after picking up drama pilot Homeland to series, Showtime has released its first advance peek at the series, which starts production in the summer. The thriller, based on Gideon Raff’s Israeli series Prisoners of War, was written by former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, Raff and Alex Gansa. It tells the story of Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis), a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al-Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin plays Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.

I agree. Danes and Patinkin work very well off each other. I just hope Showtime doesn’t schedule it against a show like ‘Boardwalk Empire.’
I’ve loved Damian Lewis since Band of Brothers. Liked him in “Life” and hated to see it canceled. Glad to see he’s got something else solid on TV.

looks great. Everyone was like meh when Nevins was taking over, now I think it could be even better for Showtime. House of Lies was shepherded by Greenblatt but still kudos to Nevins for giving it a chance and going with it. Homeland looks like HBO show and that’s what this is about.

Look for Saul to undergo gender reassignment surgery in the middle of the first season and return as Sally, played by Christine Lahti.

I watched the Israeli version. It was fantastic! Gideon Raff is a genius!
Reminds me of Rubicon (atmosphere-wise), which I loved. Hopefully it’s better than Rubicon and can hold an audience. I’m not too sure about Clare Danes in the lead, but we’ll see. I liked what I saw of Damien Lewis in Band of Brothers. Of all the future shows from HBO and Showtime, this one sounds the most interesting.
