According to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll, Mitt Romney appears the early front-runner for the Republican nomination for U.S. president in the 2012 race, but Celebrity Apprentice‘s Donald Trump is running second. Yikes, this yutz? So now I’m asking: Who from Hollywood would you put in The Donald administration?
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

For the simple reason that he will have to reveal his true wealth in tax/income filings. This is all attention seeking. He will never run.
I agree with you . He will never admit to what his real wealth is. hes like Sarah Palin , all about the attention. She won’t run either.
If the economy is where it’s at now. If gas is $4.00+ a gal, if unemployment is 9% (higher in the midwest), if inflation is building…then Trump stats to make even more sense. Plus he can write a billion dollar check!
At least he’s run a business and has some business sense, and dealings with other countries…..more than you can say about the present immature leader.
The republican party are just running clowns for president. In a year where they have a shot at the presidency you’d think they would take the nominating process more seriously.
A clown vs. Bozo? Should be fun.
Why not? Why is this crazy?
He is a billionaire businessman who knows how to create jobs and run a business, unlike dumbo in office now….a community organizer…..
Trump or Romney would be great. We people to run this country like a business, not an empire.
Agree 100%! Democrats are nothing but a bunch of drunk with power teenagers who have been abusing their parents’ credit cards for the past three years! Obama will be a one-termer and the out of control socialists/communists/radical islamists dreams will be dashed! President Trump sounds awesome! Let’s go!
Ok, let’s set the record straight. At the end of the Clinton Presidency, the US deficit (as opposed to the Debt) was gone- we actually had a surplus of $224 Billion dollars and we were on track to paying down the US Debt in 10 plus years- had Bush done nothing, we’d be almost debt free by now.
Now, Bush comes into office, pushes through tax cuts under a Republican controlled congress (marginal rates under Clinton were at historically low rates of 39%, Bush cut them to 36%), Bush then uses the 9/11 attack to push his agenda to invade Iraq without a plan to get out (cost in dollars, so far, over one TRILLION, cost in lives- 4500+ US soldiers, over 100,000 civilians in Iraq, money earned by Haliburton and other defense contractors- hundreds of billions and counting), and when W leaves a pile of shit to clean up at the end of 2008, we have a deficit of almost 900 billion dollars before Obama is even sworn in, and a TARP program pushed through by Bush in October of 2008 to save AIG and big banks- in the amount of 790+ Billion (most of which has thankfully been or will be repaid), but Obama is blamed with creating that, when what he did do was enact a stimulus package of almost 800 billion, 40% of which consisted of more tax cuts (at least a portion of those were aimed at the middle class), the rest went to pay for teachers, cops, county and state employees and much needed infrastructure investments that Bush neglected.
Bottom line- Bush pushed through tax cuts (and a $500 billion dollar drug package AND a new federal agency- Homeland Security- AND a foolish, unnecessary war) and didn’t explain that we were FUNDING THE TAX CUTS AND WARS BY BORROWING MONEY!
A Tax cut that is funded by borrowed money isn’t a cut, it just shifts the funding of US wars or government programs to those we’ve borrowed from, when the fact is the obscenely wealthy in this country, who benefit from our courts, roads, military, etc., are too shortsighted and greedy to pay 3-4% more in taxes. They are unpatriotic pigs, and now they are trying to expand their wealth by cutting benefits to the elderly and people in the middle class who haven’t seen their incomes grow over the last ten years.
I challenge any one of you Obama haters to debate on the facts, but your simple minds are so far up your collective asses that you can’t see anything but the shit you’re being fed by dangerously delusional egomaniacs like Beck or the disgusting poser Trump.
@ You’re a Teabagger Tool:
Amen dude.
thanks for showing your onesided talking points from the DNC, you did a good job. The fact of the matter is that Obummers has tripled those numbers, now what do you say? Oh, yeah, it must still be Bushs fault, you couldn’t possibly find anything wrong with the idiot in the white house, who stages all of his briefings with such classic howleedwood knowhow….really it’s very disturbing and demeaning to the office. Let’s get some class back in that office.
Loved your article about the Clinton administration. Too bad we have conservatives who’re in the dark about the GOP wanting to cut off their parents medicare and give vouchers. Take Social Security and do away with it. Taking away all the things medicare used to be. Since these people who’re talking down the Obama. If we have the GOP in. They’ll all be in a soup line along with me and other middle class people. DON’T THESE PEOPLE KNOW what they’re doing and voting for?
They must be surly dumb. It’s dangerous to live in a country like this.
I love the idiot comments about people wanting the country to be run “like a business.” So tell me, how many of Trump’s businesses have ended up in bankruptcy? Seriously, just Google “Trump Bankruptcy.”
A couple of individual properties (like the Trump Casino) in the middle of an economic Holocaust? gimme a break. You have no clue what you are talking about. His overall business is stellar!
Or if you think a CEO makes a good politician, just look at the 2010 gubernatorial and senate races in CA.
Knows how to run a business? How many times has Trump Casinos gone into bankruptcy protection?
Trump was born into money. I’ll grant you that he has a knack for turning it into more money, but he then bankrupted a couple of casinos he controlled (he said the other day- I didn’t bankrupt them- I just filed for Chapter 11 which the law allows so I could refinance- which means he used the courts to give the shaft to his creditors- but, he said, it’s the American way). Real stand up guy.
As for big businessmen being a paragon of job creation, um, what fucking country do you live in? The path most of the CEOs have taken to profitability is by shifting production overseas, cutting employment in the US and manipulating their stock options to maximize their short term profits at the expense of long term investments in US plants or personnel. The financial crisis that we are still digging ourselves out of had many causes, but chief among them was the gross mismanagement of corporate assets and vision that only extended into the next quarterly report. The US government did, you know, bail out big banks, AIG, auto companies- so why are those guys who ran those institutions into the ground considered good managers? And news flash, sport, running a government is a thousand times more complicated than running a business. A CEO doesn’t have to work with two other independent branches of government and juggle the kinds of life and death decisions a president makes every single day. Plus, you know, the goal of the government, say the CIA or US Military or Dept. of Education or EPA, isn’t to make money- it’s to keep people safe or educate them or ensure a better quality of life for all Americans, not just those who can pay for it.
And if all that isn’t enough, Trump outed himself as a lunatic birther last week when he went on several news shows to loudly proclaim he doesn’t believe the president was born in the US. He claimed- nobody remembers him from Hawaii, despite well documented reports from former teachers and childhood friends. When told there were two birth announcement placed in the 2 Honolulu papers days after his birth, he incorrectly said- the parents did it, despite copies of the newspaper which clearly show that all birth announcements, like death announcements, are sent to the papers from the county recorders office (don’t believe me- google it). But Donald is either too stupid to do the research himself or he cynically believes that by feeding an insane conspiracy theory, he’ll elevate his standing with ignorant Republican primary voters- and this poll shows that he may be correct, but I suspect the poll just is registering name recognition- anyone remember the hype leading up to President Gulianni?
Buying into the birther conspiracy, more than anything, showed me that he’s not serious about running. All this publicity is to pump up his ratings, which he needs to do because he is a narcissistic egomaniac. He will never enter the race, he doesn’t have the balls, the vision, the intelligence or the heart to lead this country. Donald is only in this for Donald. I’d say he’s a pig, but that wouldn’t be very nice to pigs.
Really well said. Just spot on
Bravo.
Thank you. Just… thank you.
Watch an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice” and see how this businessman would run the country.
We need candidates who are competent in politics, business, and the people’s interests to run for presidency not self-promoting, narcisstic, indulgent clowns like Trump.
America being a corporation and all.
The Government is not a business. It’s a non-profit organization that does far more than simply collect and spend money.
If DOnald Trump is elected president, the US will be the laughing stock of the entire world.
Oh, and by the way, how many times as Trump lost his fortune?
This whole idea of running the country like a business is complete horsesh*t. A business has only one purpose: to profit. That is not the role government. Whenever people say the country should be run like a business, what they really mean is they want to privatize everything. Sorry, but some things in life – like people’s health and well-being – are more important than corporate profit.
And I always laugh when right-wingers try to pimp Romney. He’s more liberal than Obama!
Countries aren’t businesses. That is one of the most childlishly misinformed chestnuts in the political chattersphere.
I’m not an Obama supporter, just tired of empty rhetoric.
The country CAN’T be run as a business. You can’t order Congress to execute your initiatives the way you can order corporate managers around. The presidency demands negotiating skills and alliance-building. Trump has no allies. The fantasy that a good CEO could straighten out America in a jiffy is just that — a fantasy. And Trump’s not even a good CEO; he’s managed one project after another into the ditch. He’s a middling real estate deal-maker and a genius self-promoter.
It’s a measure of our collective national desperation that we’re even looking at this guy. This is ridiculous.
Donald Trump is a first class yutz. The guy is a douche.
Jeff Zucker!!
donald trump and randall pinkett in 2012.
A Trump-Palin ticket should cover all the bases…of reality programming…
Hah, a season of Celebrity Apprentice meets Sarah Palin’s Alaska would be awesome! Palin has the win in her crosshairs, but Trump says you’re fired just before Palin pulls the trigger, saying no – YOU’RE fired. Someone take this to the networks!
If we can corral Obama and Biden into an Amazing Race-type show called “Run Off” where they start in Alaska, have their first elimination in Hawaii (some tense birther moments here, folks) and have to finish in Washington D.C., winner gets the Presidency, then we’d have a show that could go head-to-head with Bad Girls Club.
You gotta make Jeff Probst a UN ambassador or something. And then you make Snoop Dogg the secretary of agriculture.
Snoop Dog as the secretary of agriculture is a brilliant choice. Under his guidance America will grow the best weed in the whole world. Bethany Frankel as secretary of health and Human services. I see a great future for this country with Donald Frump at the helm.
Like that idiot would ever give up his TV show. Yeah right! A publicity stunt of the lowest kind and a vie for attention from a moron who clearly never got enough hugs as a child. And republican voters will believe anything anyone tells them. America FTW.
I have to say the only media interviewer that actually asked good questions to what insanity Trump has been putting out there on being President is Bill O’Reilly. Every other person that interviews Trump says nothing to the crazy ideas Trump has for the world. Trump thinks acting tough will make the world obey the US? Vote for him and watch him drive the US into the ground. How many times has this guy gone bankrupt and the Wall Street pals that caused this financial crisis pulled him out of bankruptcy. BTW, how do you bankrupt a casino?
I agree Sacramento – it was a tough interview & surprised me because O’Reilly and Trump are long time friends – but there was nothing suck up in the interview. I am not really Right but I think Obama has been a disaster. What we get for voting in someone with such a thin resume – really had no strengths. But still a guy with some strengths as a business man is not a “presidential” resume either. I dont see anyone Left or Right with a strong defense and domestic policy – but Trump knows how to get media attention and say the right things – exactly what got Obama elected.
I’m still waiting for Mr. Right (or Left or Center).
As somebody who voted for Obama, I disagree that he’s been a disaster, especially considering who was at the helm the previous eight years. He is, however, a complete disappointment and has failed to live up to even an inkling of his promise. He constantly capitulates to the right, while talking a good game only to fail to deliver time and time again. At best he hasn’t made things worse, and even some areas have improved slightly. But that will all change when the double-dip recession hits.
what has improved slightly? For Whom? You voted for a guy who voted Present everytime, and you thought he was going to be a leader. Surprised?
Hey Nikki. The donald has more money than you ever will, is more respected than you ever will be, has a great shot at the nomination and will do HUGE with independent/swing voters. But you andr liberal elites have fun knocking him. The administration in pissing in their pants that a man’s man like him doesn’t get in.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. A “man’s man”?! Dude, you’re killing me. Ralph-Freaking-Nader has a better chance than a fame-hungry whore like Trump.
I’m pissing in my pants out of fear as well…. and I’m a Republican. Oh, and can I use that argument in the future? A real winner: if someone suggests that Sarah Palin or Dennis Kucinich or Joan Rivers would be a bad president, all I have to do is say “Well. Joan Rivers has more money than you ever will. Therefore…..”
Hey Nikki. I respect you more than Donald Trump.
And to the pretentious f*** above: the fact that the first justification of your rude comment has to do with money says everything about how pathetic your antics and your political affiliation is built around…pure greed. It might have not occurred to you, but maybe Nikki Finke is probably quite comfortable with her wealth and has no aspiration to be Billionaire (in the process bankrupting a casino). If there is one thing I think Nikki values, it is notoriety surrounding her ability to get and break relevant information pertaining to this magnificent industry of media and entertainment. With that, the Trump has no shot in hell at obtaining the Republic nomination…any “right” minded intellectual would no that. Trump in the White House spells immediate scandal and would drastically depreciate the integrity of this country. We already were scammed by Bush. I know you miss your Reaganomics, but that crap will not work in todays day and age. Does a man’s man go tanning frequently and wear one of the worst hair pieces we have all ever seen? And buddy, nobody is pissing in their pants.
what are you smoking? He won’t get independent/swing voters. You should also read what you’ve written before you post it. It sounds like Sarah Palin wrote it
They’re actually not “pissing their pants”. If Trump does run for presidency under the GOP it will actually be a huge blow AGAINST them because any Americans with a modicum of common sense will see how ludicrous the idea is… other than you of course.
Hahaha pretty good fake post there. Now what do you really think?
wait a sec. if trump and his pals have billions more than nikki, aren’t THEY the “elite”? or do you mean something else. do you mean “smart”? should intelligent people not have good jobs simply because they’re intelligent? what DO you mean by “elite”?
Yes, because money is all that matters in this world, never humanity.
Trump won’t make it past New Hampshire. Hell, I’ll give him a little more rope and say he’ll make his last stand in South Carolina. The simple fact is he doesn’t appeal to the base, because he’s a not a right-wing fundamentalist (though he’s trying to make his pitch with that birther crap – but they’ll see through it.)
He needs to harness the base to win in Iowa, since it’s a caucus. And caucuses are driven by the activists in the party. They have no love or trust for a rich New Yorker like him. He’ll get some media exposure like Rudy did when he first ran, but he’ll get bounced from the primaries pretty quickly, because like Rudy, Trump’s all hype. And hype never gets anyone elected (and can any Obama cracks to that last statement – he ran a great campaign in ’08, no denying that.)
Mike Eisner… hah.
I think Trump is just grandstanding. I hope he runs. At least it will be an interesting election.
The 2012 Election tagline should be just like “Alien vs. Predator’s,”
“Whoever wins, WE LOSE.”
Does anyone really want another four years of Obama, and his worst possible decision making?
Does anyone really want four years of the GOP’s bullshit?
Too bad we can’t choose “None of the Above” like in “Brewster’s Millions.”
“Whoever wins, we lose” has been my self-imposed election tagline for the past 3 elections.
Yes Nikki this egotistical yutz has a very good chance of being elected president. He’s not a career politician like every other candidate and that makes him very electable in the present anti-politician tea party climate. You can hate him all you want but most voters consider him a very successful businessman. He could win in a landslide if he gets the nomination and his chances are increasing that he will be nominated every day. Don’t be surprised if he actually wins. Schwarzenegger proved that being a celebrity is still the most important thing it trumps everything else.
Honestly, if The Donald gets elected, I’ll send you a post card from Canada.
This clearly shows how dumb America’s electorate is. If you want to hitch your wagon to a successful businessman, support Mitt Romney or Herman Cain. If you want to support a clown, join forces with Trump or Sarah Palin.
It’s too bad we don’t take this stuff more seriously, but then again, that’s how we got in this mess in the first place.
He has filed for bankruptcy more than once. How good would he be? He can’t keep his own house in any order. I do agree with some of what he’s saying. We do need to take care of the US. Before we build schools for other countries, we should be worrying about American education. But hes no better than Michele Bachman
It is odd that the public perception of him is as a genius businessman, given that since the mid-80s he’s essentially been a high-profile gambler. He wouldn’t win (and certainly not in a landslide – that’s not really possible anymore, unless you consider Obama’s win a landslide – that’s about as landslide as we’re going to get these days – a candidate holding their base and capturing a few swing states), and he won’t be nominated because what remains of the Republican intellectual branch would exodus and the party would split. Nonetheless, the recent spate of running celebrities or picking people because of their appearance is more proof that all people really want to do is win elections – they don’t care about actually running the country afterward.
The Donald and Mark Burnett will develop a show for NBCU-Comcast called “The Presidential Apprentice” and pull candidates from there. Of course, he’ll appoint his children to the top posts. The line between reality and Government will be more blurred than ever. Tax breaks for the filthy rich.
I’m sure you meant to say “the line between ENTERTAINMENT and Government will be more blurred than ever.”
He can’t be any worse than Obama.
or Bush- Don’t forget who started this whole thing.
Oh please. Obama and his party had been in control for 2 years. They had their shot to do better and instead didnt submit a budget. Spent money like drunken sailors and amassed a mountain of debt that we may never recover from.
@Hopeless,
Of course he can. And will be. But thanks for your brain-dead comment.
The thing that’s so funny about these chickenhawk Teabaggers is that they fail to see that Obama is doing much more to push their agenda than he is to push the progressive one he campaigned on.
But since the Republican base lacks critical thinking skills, they fail to see that he is one of the most Wall Street-friendly presidents in history. “Marxists” don’t appoint Wall Street guys to be their Chief of Staff.
But yeah, keep demanding to see his birth certificate, you flyover chimps.
If ever someone asks what is wrong with America, I will refer them to this article.
You’d do better to direct them to this forum…for comments like yours.
Nah, just refer ‘em to the people who are already here defending Trump. Well worth a laugh.
Ari Emmanuel as Chief of Staff
Charlie Sheen as Secretary of State we need Goodtime Charlie to travel the world on our behalf they love Charlie everywhere. Chuck Norris as Secretary of Defense he’s the toughest guy for the job. Omarosa as UN Ambassador she’s so damn annoying. Richard Hatch as Secretary of Treasury or Chief of the IRS so he can abolish income taxes, the Government will make money from new casinos everywhere. Snooki as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Willie Nelson as Secretary of Agriculture he’ll legalize and subsidize marijuana. Perez Hilton for Vice President.
America! Have you learned your lesson yet? Vote for another “rock star” you know absolutely nothing about & refuse to listen to the warning signs in a candidate’s background and you get another Obama. Worst episode ever!!!
Trump may be a successful businessman but he absolutely fails as a human being. You sure you want this guy in charge?
Mike Ovitz as White House Press Secretary.
Say what you will about Trump but at least he’s held down a job (and successfully) which is more than one can say for 99% of politicians including that thing in the White House at the moment. It should be a prerequisite that a presidential candidate have SOME business skills.
I see they’re linking this article from Free Republic.com now.
Don’t you people have an abortion clinic you should be protesting?
Shouldn’t you be paying for your eighth one right about now?
I’m not a republican but even I would vote for Donald Trump.
This just reeks of a publicity stunt gone horribly wrong.
Great! another reason for the world to laugh at us.
