Since Glenn Beck’s pending exit as Fox News host was announced last week, media attention has focused primarily on Judge Andrew Napolitano as a potential replacement for the 5 PM slot. Further fueling speculations, Napolitano, who has served as a guest host on the program before, was tapped to sub for Beck, who is on tour, three days this week. But Napolitano’s ratings came in below expectations. Monday through Wednesday, he averaged 1.66 million viewers, down 19% from Beck’s March average, and 345,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, down 32% from Beck’s average. Fox News still won the hour by a comfortable margin, largely because of its overall strength throughout the day, but the network may hesitate to go with someone who drops so much from Beck’s March levels, which were already dramatically down from his heyday in the slot. Fox News is expected to continue to try out hosts. Last night, Fox News/Fox Business Network’s Eric Bolling anchored the program. Ratings for that show will be available later this afternoon.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

2 30 minutes shows Krauhammer for 1 and Arthel Neville doing lighter fare in the other one
Mark Levin.
I think Mark Styne would be great. He combines insightful political analysis with with a scathing wit. I like some humor with my politics.
Lou Dobbs or Mark Steyn, with a roundtable, perhaps.
It is not going to be easy for ANYONE to get the ratings Glenn was getting. They were unprecedented in cable history for that time slot. I hope the folks at FOX realize the complete foolishness of instant analysis of success based on ratings. Beck’s unique and utterly sincere devotion to principles is not standard television fare. A perfect replacement who, over a relatively short period of time could perhaps even surpass Glenn’s rating, without sacrificing an iota of credibility would be Bill Whittle, currently providing excellent commentary on PJTV. He has the intellect, the talent, and most importantly, the guts to continue the fight. I’d watch EVERY DAY.
Only Glenn beck mentioned that the cowards in the Republican party left funding for NPR and all public broadcasting, including Pacifica intact, something that has been carefully hidden. Beck wss interesting and controversial. Fox won’t find his like again, and their ratings will suffer for it.
When Beck leaves in late fall or mid December, Fox will go into the usual election news show of Election Headquarters (HQ) at 5:00 pm through the primaries and 2012 election. After that is anyone’s guess.
Beck’s ratings have not fallen. The ones quoted are always the January, February, March 2010 ratings that were due to the healthcare debate up until it became a signed law. All Foxnews shows were rated higher, as were CNN and MSNBC during that time.
If you take out those 3 months of high ratings and the weeks he was gone for vacation and illness of low ratings, a person would discover that his ratings have continually averaged at about 2 million viewers just as they do now. Granted the people may be different. The faith based, Israel based, Islamic jihadist based shows may turn people off now just as the healthcare, cap and trade, Bill Ayres, etc may have turned others off last year.
He has been hinting for several months that he could be leaving and that we need to do our own homework and be connected. No surprise that he
is leaving. And for anyone that thinks Media Matters, Soros or any other entity caused it doesn’t know much about conservatives. We have brains and can make decisions best for us and our families. We don’t need union leaders, and marxists or socialists telling us what to do and when to do it.
Actually, the basic ratings include same day DVR numbers now. And had you bothered to actually watch the show you would know the promotions in the slow heavily promoted DVR use. Because they know a key demo is people with jobs and the only way those viewers will be able to watch is via DVR.
Why not try Star Parker? She is articulate well informed, and has a successful endeavor at CURE.
Larry Elder would be my choice.
OMG, Red Eye is in no way near the quality and wit of Stewart and Colbert. Greg Gutfeld and his friends remind me of a bunch of inmature high school geeks siting around a cafeteria table at lunch. Also, have you noticed, they always position a young chick at the front of the table with a short skirt on because geeks like like to dream the impossible.
Someone mentioned Arthel Neville, she was recently a morning anchor here in San Diego, and I liked her alot.
BUT REMEMBER, FOX HAS NO BLACK TALENT THAT ANCHORS THEIR OWN SHOW
ANYWHERE ON THE NETWORK. BESIDES, AETHEL IS NOT A BLOND!
LARRY KING SHOULD COME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND REPLACE BECK
Keep Beck. 3rd highest rated news show on TV. What are they thinking.
Has to be Megyn Kelly: dynamic, smart, opinionated, and gorgeous!
Greg Gutfeld!!!!!! he better get it or i am boycotting fox news!
