Clive Owen will star in Shadow Dancer, a BBC Films coproduction that will be directed by Man on Wire helmer James Marsh, with production to begin in Dublin later this month. Wild Bunch will sell international territories at Cannes, and Paramount Pictures has signed on to distribute in the UK. The film also stars Andrea Riseborough, Aidan Gillen and Gillian Anderson. Tom Bradby adapted his novel. The focus is an IRA sympathizer who is arrested after an aborted bombing attempt in London and has to decide whether to turn against her cause or spend her life in prison. Owen plays the MI5 officer trying to turn her. Chris Coen, Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney are producing, with BBC Films’ Joe Oppenheimer exec producer. …

Writer and director Todd Robinson’s Phantom will be sold at Cannes by K5. Andy Garcia, William Fichtner, Ed Harris and Natascha McElhone are starring. Pic’s a supernatural thriller about a troubled Soviet submarine captain who discovers there is something aboard that could control the fate of his ship and the impact it will make on an unsuspecting world. Julian Adams and John Watson are producing, and Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group arranged financing and will sell domestic.

Both of these sound pretty dull.
Ugh. Todd Robinson has a weird fetish about men and water.
Garcia and Harris in a submarine confronting a world changing decision doesn’t sound boring to me plus Natascha McElhone doesn’t hurt to look at
Submarine movies are kind of male for male. Phallic boat, men stuck inside… Andy Garcia and his baby talk speech impediment he’s never had corrected despite the fact he’s an actor…
Looks like this could be interesting, cant wait
Congratulations to producer John Watson, my producing professor at USC film school and all-round gentleman!
Fichtner + Harris = me with a ticket in my hand.
A while ago I got to read an early draft of this project, working as an executive in a production company. I didn’t know what to think at first, but as I read on I couldn’t stop myself. I must say I was quite impressed. Love the cast. I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
Todd Robinson’s film “Phantom” sounds amazing! Julian Adams and John Watson are excellent producers, and the cast looks incredible. Cannot wait to see it!
“Phantom” looks like a MUST SEE to me! Todd Robinson is an amazing writer and director; check out “Lonely Hearts” and obviously “White Squall.” The main cast looks great, and these producers have a great eye for casting young stars in the making at the other roles, too. My husband and I will be first in line at the theatre!
Few people realize just how close to reality this scenario is… I know of three instances where the captains of nuclear armed submarines became unstable. Ghosts are ghosts no matter if they are real or imagined…..so are nuclear weapons. This movie is going to be one of those films that sneaks up on you!
Robinson is clearly a fast rising and fine director. The casting looks excellent. I suspect this will be a big hit.
I cannot wait to see this one. The cast is incredible. The Director and Producers are superb!! This is a must see!!
Great story, cast and crew! Phantom will be beyond amazing…a true masterpiece.
Love Todd Robinson’s movies.
Just because this particular film is largely about men doesn’t mean it’s “male for male.” That’s nonsense. By that logic, many of history’s finest literature and films are merely “for male” or “for female.”
Can’t wait to see it.
