20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have closed the deal for screen rights to Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, the Ransom Riggs novel that’s about the discovery of an abandoned orphanage, where a tragedy sends a 16-year-old to an isolated island off of Wales, where he discovers the abandoned remains of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, he can see the children were more than peculiar, they might have been there because they were dangerous. And some of them might still be lurking around. The novel, called Harry Potter in tone, has several suitors, and I’m told Fox paid six against seven figures in an auction brokered by CAA and APA. Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping are producing.

Kids books are red hot again. Our shingle just got delivery of The Strange Journal of the Boy Henry, by Alini. I don’t think it makes for good cinematic material. Great story but just not enough action. But you never know how these things go.
Kate
Good story.
GO Ransom Riggs!!!!!!!!!! Took long enough. WOW!
go fox! go daria!
Yay Ransom!
Rock Star!!!!!
Great story. And all you had to say was “Harry Potter” and BAM – Franchise dollars sound off everywhere. Heard Heroes and Villains Entertainment/Management was part of this too. Anybody confirm that?
Yes. It’s confirmed. Heroes and Villains rep Ransom Riggs with APA.
Heroes and Villains Entertainment and APA led the sale, CAA reps the publisher. I’m also hearing this deal is NOT closed. SUMMIT is trying to swoop in and steal the property.
It’s a little more complicated than that, but it’ll all work out in the end.
