Jamie Oliver may have won his battle with the leadership of LAUSD but lost the one to stay on ABC’s schedule. The network has pulled the series, which promotes healthy eating, for the upcoming May sweep. At least initially, Food Revolution will be replaced by Dancing with the Stars recaps. Te recaps had been doing better than Oliver’s reality series, which most recently drew a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 in the Tuesday 8 PM time period. Food Revolution will return with originals June 9 in the Friday 9 PM slot.

Jamie Oliver’s show is the only ‘reality’ show I watch! It figures.
I was a big fan of this show in its first season, but this season has rubbed me the wrong way. It feels preachier, more infantile, more manipulative. Moreover, if you’ve seen the first season, there’s nothing new here, it’s just Jamie complaining about flavored milk and whining about nobody taking him seriously, again, as if it’s a sequel to a movie. Also, putting the show in LA was just dumb. If any city government is going to look at reality TV with a jaundiced eye, it would be this one.
I don’t know if they have a different producer, or if this season was just produced more haphazardly than the first one, but it’s just not coming together. Don’t blame viewers for not tuning in, blame the show itself.
A show about healthy eating is unpopular in America? Shocking.
It is a down right shame that ABC did not keep the show on the air. This is the show that America needs. This a reality show that comes closest to actually representing reality.
Yeah, ABC will cancel this, but “Celebrity Wife Swap” is boffo!
If they had any shame, they would be ashamed.
TV is a business. It wasn’t getting the numbers. I don’t know why anyone is shocked by this decision.
My KIDS LOVE this show!!! They were so glued to the tv for the first season and can’t wait to watch it this season. They were so disgusted with chicken nuggets after the season 1 and so into the eat healthy message that Jamie is trying to get across to families and schools. I’m very disappointed by the choice ABC has made! I’m very thankful for Chef’s like Jamie Oliver trying to make a difference.
This just in — people don’t like being told to stop doing what they enjoy!
Actually this just in: Americans don’t like some pudgey Limey twat telling them they’re fat.
This just in: America is the most obese nation on the planet. Especially those fatties in middle America.
Keep eating your donuts and processed food, tea partiers. I’m sorry but seriously obese people disgust me. It’s not that difficult to eat healthy. I changed my diet (not that I was ever obese) a few years ago, and now not only do I feel so much better, but I no longer can stand most processed and fast food. It’s disgusting.
So celebrities pretending to know they can dance wins over healthy eating? That right there shows you the networks’ priorities for their audiences.
Anybody upset about this stop blaming ABC. As usual it is the public’s fault. Networks are not interested in putting out quality tv. They are only interested in making money and that is fine. If large numbers of people would stop watching crap like Idol, dancing shows, Survivor, etc. and start watching good shows like Jamie’s show then they would stay on the air. Always blame the poor taste of the public.
Liked the first season – at the start – but it just got faker and faker as it went along. I wish the US version had kept the authenticity of the Brit version…
The premise was good but the execution was piss poor. Oliver comes off as a condenscending twat who needs to take some of his own advice (he’s at least 10 lbs overweight) and also find his way into a gym once in awhile. The British have a love/hate relation with him. The critics can’t stand his smarmy yuppie themed cooking shows. But, he has a sizable follwing because of his everyman persona that he purposely exudes – even though he owns two mansions.
that is america, only thinking about the present and not the future. buying cheap burgers now, and ending up paying a hefty medical cost later. if the majority of americans dont care about watching their health, they will suffer the last few months or years they have, cry about it in their wheelchair or bed, and eventually die. in addition, causing alot of grief in the family. the food that are available most places now are what i call “silent assassins.” the food we eat wait for us to slowly damage our health until they get the opportunity to hit us with diabetes.
