In Or Out? Alec Baldwin Will Be On Hand For Today’s ‘Rock Of Ages’ Run-Through
EXCLUSIVE: So let’s update the Alec Baldwin vs Rock Of Ages small drama. Yes, the actor showed up in Miami for the full run-through of Adam Shankman’s big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway 1980s-flavored rock musical. Yes, he’s going to do the movie, which starts shooting May 23rd. So that celebrity gossip report that Alec Baldwin had pulled out of the production was bogus. What actually happened was that New Line boss Toby Emmerich was told by Baldwin he had a newly discovered medical condition that was expected to resolve so he could do the movie. But then later in the day Baldwin formally asked New Line to replace him “if at all possible,” even though the actor had committed to the movie. Emmerich pondered. But Toby’s boss, Warner Bros movie chief Jeff Robinov, decided to hold Baldwin’s feet to the fire and demand he do the film. Robinov knew it would be impossible on short notice to properly recast the meaty role of the owner of the Sunset Boulevard Whisky-A-Go-Go-like Bourbon Room owner, Dennis Dupree, which has a big musical number in the film. (Stars like Will Ferrell and Steve Carell passed before Baldwin agreed to do it.) And Robinov acted like a mogul and refused to put the entire production on hold affecting other cast members Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige and Malin Akerman.

I’m going to go see this film to support Adam Shankman.
Why? He’s talent-free.
I wish they would cast Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in this. I’ve always wanted to see Tom Cruise do a movie with each of them.
Good call, Warner Bros. An angry Baldwin on the mend will no doubt turn in a stellar performance. Yeah, I know. Can’t let actors out of contract left & right. Ferrell and Carell are probably double-glad they passed now.
Alec makes any film better – as you don’t have to work with him
I’m not sure how (other than Brand) any of these actors make sense in a film about 80′s metal. Tom Cruise? Really? That guy is just about the most un-metal dude on the face of this or any other planet infested with the ghosts of dead aliens.
They should have called in Steve Zahn — the most under-used actor in town. He’s great in drama (Rescue Dawn), great in goofy comedy, and also has musical chops.
Good news!
I’m sure I’m not the only one thinks this is another in a long line of attempts by Alec to get his name in the papers. I mean, he used to be a real actor and now he’s just a joke. Guess he realized he couldn’t blame his ex-wife for every one of his mistakes so now he’s doing the will he or won’t he tango on a movie nobody in the real world gives a damn about. Supposedly people are raving about this Rock of Ages drivel but if the performance from the play’s cast on DWTS recently was any indication, it’s even worse than Glee.
Alec is both a movie star and a Tv star as well as a luaded Tony nominated theater actor. You wished you had his success and recognition. I think you comment is a joke, not a funnyone. Alec ont he other hand has great comedic ability. IMO he was sterotyped as some thug when he was a comedic genius with impeccable timing. I guess gorgeous men aren’t allowed to be funny. Now that he’s older, he can be real. I think it’s pretty obvious to any fan that he has been sick. He looks tired and his face is very red. His schedule is ridiculous. Alec needs to slow down, he takes on too much and also hosts the NY phil, and does tons of charity work is on several boards and works way too hard. I’m glad he’s doing the movie but sorry he’s sick.
he should have won an oscar for ‘rescue dawn’ or at least have been nominated!!!
