Barry Levinson is negotiating to come aboard Gotti: Three Generations, Fiore Films’ indie biopic that has cast John Travolta at the Dapper Don and Joe Pesci as his right-hand man. Nick Cassavetes was tapped as the director when the project was announced last month, but he recently dropped out because of a scheduling conflict.

Good, Lord, what the hell happened to Barry Levinson? Once upon a time my favorite, favorite, favorite director now he’s lapping up sloppy seconds from Nick Cassavettes? Wow! Barry, if you need the $ so bad there’s gotta be an easier way.
“what the hell happened to Barry Levinson?”
He was just Emmy Nominated for directing Al Pacino in his Emmy-Winning performance in HBO’s YOU DON’T KNOW JACK, that’s what Levinson’s been up to!!! A great film – no matter where you stand on the Euthanasia issue, the film really humanizes Kevorkian.
You apparently don’t know Jack.
Sloppy seconds, indeed!
“Gotti: Three Generations” portrays 3 generations of human garbage.
Nick came to his senses and ran away, probably the inept producers insistence on hiring Lohan was the final straw.
Barry’s now a director for hire. Having just directed Pacino, he’s already gotten a sense of the Gotti characters.
Though Barry’s really too good for the likes of a scummy Gotti biopic lovingly written by the 2nd generation Gotti filth.
Yeah, and he’s following that wonderful movie w/ this crap? That’s what I meant, moron! Now run back to your boss and show him your little post.
Give up golf and started directing again !! The perfect choice [ ps give up JT he sucks] get a
man in there to play a real man.
Right Coast – sorry your client did not get work on this, but no need to insult. I was already excited for a good mob story – and there’s NEVER TOO MANY. Barry’s involvement makes this film look better.
I guess I don’t see the appeal of what the Gotti story offers plus I see a woefully miscast Travolta and predictable and unengaging casting with Pesci. Add to that the tabloid queen narcissicist Lohan and you’ve got box office poison.
This will be the “Battlefield Earth” of mob movies, so bad it’s laughable.
I don’t really believe that this movie will be shot. They suppose to start shooting in October but it probably will just be postponed. And then again and again. I wonder about the budget. Remember that all those TMZ sites were screaming about $85 million. But not any normal person will give even $20 million for Lindsay Lohan movie.
Barry Levinson brings both his talent and credibility to this somewhat ‘questionable’ project…and, makes it more possible to believe it might work.
