This is an update of my Tuesday story that the Rob Schneider comedy pilot is in serious contention for a midseason order. CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler confirmed this morning that she plans to pick up comedy series for midseason and will focus on that when she goes back to Los Angeles. While she wouldn’t elaborate which pilots are still in the running, I hear that the two that have a real shot are the untitled Rob Schneider and Peter Knight half-hours. The Rob Schneider/Lew Morton comedy is considered likely to go to series, while the Peter Knight still has a shot too.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Go Knight!! I’m pulling for you Peter.
Agreed. Saw both pilots. Peter Knight’s is better by far.
What about HOME GAME?? Loved that pilot.
It’s crazy that Rob Riggle’s pilot didn’t get picked up. There was real chemistry on that show. Funny, easy to watch, great cast. This one had the goods. It made me think of some of the solid comedies like “Cheers” and “Home Improvement” so many times as I watched it. A real shame.
Peter Knight is a Happy Madison production. Poor Adam Sandler must be torn between his company and his bro Schneider. Wait, not poor Adam Sandler. Not poor at all.
Oh I disagree. Both good but Rob funnier. And ethnic, which CBS needs. Glad to hear there will be more comedy pickups though, CBS will need them.
Sorry… must respectfully disagree. I also saw both pilots and thought that the Rob Schneider ep was laugh out loud hysterical, while the PK pilot was just ok. To each his/her own.
Rob was great! Even though I was not huge fan of Robs comedy, the pilot was a lot, a lot, better than PK. The Rob pilot was fresh, interesting, unique and most importantly funny as hell! I can’t wait to see what that Mexican Family will do with poor Rob.
Rob Schneider pilot was hysterical. Lew Morton’s a great writer. Great fit for CBS
While I think Rob is hilarious and I love him… totally off for CBS brand
I do hope they pick up BOTH pilots, I saw them both and while I thought Knight’s comedy was better, I was pulling for them to be picked up. In fact, I was surprised CBS didn’t.
I think they are getting ready to replace 2.5 man when it bombs with no Charlie in it.
The Rob Schneider pilot might well have been one of the best “half hours” I’ve seen in years!
Same old, same old with Rob – haven’t we seen this all before? It’ll be fine to start and then die a slow death. PK’s is funny and will develop a strong following.
OR… How about instead of a new show, they give Mad Love a second season. Way too good of a show to get cancelled!
Hey, Jason Biggs’ assistant — shouldn’t you be picking up his dry cleaning instead of writing on a message board? Mad Love was too terrible for words.
Put me in the Rob Schneider camp. Thought his pilot was mad funny and am semi-shocked that it is being put in the mid-season column. Oh well. If you recall, SEINFELD tested poorly and the main recommendation was that the supporting cast be replaced. So much for testing, no?
You mentioned Rob Schneider is on one of the pilots. Can someone tell me who is in the other pilot that’s being considered?
