UPDATE 1:40 PM: Outgoing Law & Order: SVU executive producer/showrunner Neal Baer has been tapped as executive producer/ showrunner of A Gifted Man. This marks his first gig under his new overall deal at CBS TV Studios, which starts in a few days.
PREVIOUS: CBS just picked up another new drama series, the untitled Susannah Grant medical drama, now titled A Gifted Man. Produced by CBS TV Studios, it
stars Patrick Wilson as ultra-competitive surgeon Michael, whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife Anna dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the hereafter. The Gifted Man joins dramas The 2-2 (prev. Rookies), Unforgettable (prev. The Rememberer) and David Hornsby’s comedy How To Be a Gentleman, picked up earlier today; and drama Person of Interest and comedy Two Broke Girls, which were ordered Friday.

What about CSI:NY?!?
I lose more and more hope for its renewal efery post…
YAY!! this is a good one–way to go CBS
Jonathan Demme dhould be very proud of himself because this is the
fist time he ever directed a tv pilit
The Rememberer, Rural Juror. The Rememberer, Rural Juror. The Rememberer…
Hearing will now today or tomorrow on Rob Schneider as a mid season.
at least the changed it to UNFORGETTABLE. THE 2-2? are u f***ing serious? lol. who decided that was better than ROOKIES? I’m telling u that show is doomed based on the title alone. “Next week on an all new THE 2-2.” LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL. gets my vote for the WORST title of 2011.
What about Hail Mary?
A Gifted Man? A terrible title. Should have gone with Life & Death.
Remembering, The Remberererer, I Can’t Remember…
A Gifted Man sounds a lot like the great Everwood (The WB). If it will be anything like that, then I’ll watch — I loved Everwood!
funny you should say everwood. the other CBS medical pilot – the Doctor, was created by rina mimoun, who was the showrunner of Everwood for years. I’m assuming now that susannah grant’s medical show got picked up, the doctor probably won’t. too bad! i haven’t read too much about mimoun’s pilot but i bet it was good.
oh well, i’m sure the gifted man won’t be to as much like Everwood as The Doctor would have been…
where is CM SB?
I love seeing those goddang murderers caught every hour on CBS! Thank you, Andy Rooney!
Why does CBS always feel the need to pair the creator/showrunner with another showrunner? It makes for very strange bedfellows and not very special shows.
Is it that CBS wants more power in the process? Or they want to dilute the creative voice that got the show on the air in the first place? I heard that Les Moonves insists on it.
When was the last time CBS won an Emmy for best show, writing or directing? The Good Wife is their only memorable show and it seems like the creators are the showrunners.
Neal Baer isn’t half the writer Susannah Grant is.
um, unless I missed something, Susannah Grant is a feature writer with no TV experience. Running a show is a very specific skill set which she does not have yet. It would be suicide to do this without a show runner.
While this is technically true, Grant does have TV experience writing for at least two seasons of Party of Five.
The Blue Bloods had two different showrunners added to the creative team and now the creative team is gone. Seems like CBS would want to protect the creators and not the showrunner.
This is really about CBS guaranteeing that their procedural elements are in place with a name showrunner and valuing those more than original writing and characters.
THE 2-2? ha ha ha ha ha ha! Guess nobody at the network said that title out loud before they picked it!
Ewww. A Gifted Man sounds like a stinker and a half! Really, really bad choice.
I am guessing that means The Doctor is dead. Bummer. I liked that pilot.
Hey CBS, where’s your HOME GAME????????!!!!!! It was so funny. Rob Riggle and Ken Marino are great in it.
Does this mean the Rina Mimoun/David Nutter medical pilot is dead? Is that the end of his streak?
Unforgettable/A gifted Man — way to go Beverly/Timberman!
Sounds interesting. I´ll give it a try.
It was called Vital Signs first, now having apparently been recut named A Gifted Man.
It will be cancelled after maybe 4 episodes, if it makes it that long.
The script was lousy, the plot, concept and characters terrible. Another example of really bad conceptual writing No creative writing here, no new concepts just more Doctors, Mediums, Ghosts, Cops, and it seems we’ve been done this road all too many times at this point. This is a real stretch and quite frankly a total waste of time and money.
CBS green lIt this only because the President at CBS entertainment likes it.
Unfortunately 9 times out of 10 that does not translate into a popular show.
Absolutely no one is going to care about a rich playboy surgeon running around New York City in a sports car who has a dead x-wife who came back from the grave to give him guidance.
We will see in the fall, mark my word, it won’t last till January.
The 2-2 does sound like tutu so maybe it is about black swan being so popular and making it like that LOL LOL LOL LOL
