EXCLUSIVE: Craig Kilborn is looking to return to TV, this time as the creator and star of a primetime comedy series. The former Daily Show and Late Late Show host has signed a development deal with ABC Studios to write a half-hour script, to which he is attached to star and produce. After a stint as anchor of ESPN’s SportsCenter, Kilborn was tapped as the original host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show before segueing to CBS’ The Late Late Show, which he hosted from 1999-2004. He served as a writer on both shows. Kilborn, repped by Innovative Artists, stayed largely off the radar for six years before he did a talk show, The Kilborn Files, which ran on the Fox stations last year.

Will never see air
WOW…thought Craig Kilborn had gone the same path as Keith Olberman…into oblivion.
He has. This guy’s ego is his worst enemy.
So… can we just assume that his show will only get good AND popular once he’s replaced with someone else?
I’ve got to disagree with you.I loved The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. It was hilarious. He and the guest actually had fun, unlike a lot of other talk shows.I watched his entire run and jumped ship once he left.
I also enjoyed The Kilborn Files last summer.I hoped it would come back, but I guess it isn’t.
Completely agree. It’s frustrating when people think he left shows because he was bad…he left shows because he was successful and was moving up the ladder. The Late Late Show had great ratings and he fully admitted to leaving because he wanted to do other stuff…like act. THAT is the only thing that didn’t work out for him.
He is oddly tall to team up with any female star.
like brad Garrett and Joely fisher?
Wow, this is a blast from the past. I saw Old School on TV last week and was wondering whatever happened to Kilborn.
has thre ever been a sitcom where the leads love interest is himself?
i pity the fool who works with craig kilborn.
I had forgotten about the Kilborn Files………………………….
Love Kilborn! Bring back Sebastian, The Asexual Icon.
I’m looking forward to any show Kilborn is involved with. He’s a brilliant writer with lots of social wit, a class act.
Kilborn was not only funnier but a superior interviewer to all these late-night guys. Was a victim of Peter Lassally and Worldwide Pants’ greed. Good for him and ABC, they must belive in him as well. Smart move.
He should team up with Will Arnett for a buddy cop show, “Smug & Smarm”.
There are so few good comedies on TV anymore – letting someone who’s actually funny give it a try makes sense. I’d watch.
Can’t wait to see the insanely funny Kilborn on the tube, especially in a sitcom.
He comes across as extremely unlikable.
He can be funny but he can not write a joke to save his ass! He can not be told anything and if you suggest anything to him he screams faster then Whitney Houston running away from rehab!
It’s about damn time this amazingly hilarious star got back on the airwaves!
Man have I MISSED this guy! love to see the funny going back on ABC
Awesome! Looking forward to have Craig back on Primetime TV. The man is all kinds of Phunny! (I would really like to see him do a talk show thing again)
ABC has been so spot on with their half-hours as of late, they definitely know what they are doing over there and Craig will be a great addition to their comedy line-up!
welcome back, and in primetime at that!
Can’t wait to see Kilborn back in action, love him!
I thought he was delivering pizzas to stoned college students in Charlottesville, VA.
This gives me time to run out and buy a tv big enough to display his head.
“This Friday on ABC, “Everybody Loves Craig, But Not As Much As Craig”"
Can’t wait.
Kilby’s a very funny guy. He’s not the class clown/cut-up type that people are used to on late night TV, but that’s what I always dug about him. There’s room for both the Kilbys and the Conans of the world.
Looking forward to Craig’s new show,”Yambo, Man of Adventure.”
