UPDATED: The CW has officially picked up the Sarah Michelle Gellar drama pilot Ringer, which was originally produced for CBS, along with early frontrunners Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie. On the unscripted side, as expected, CW has picked up series H8ER, which pairs celebrities with their haters. The pickups for Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie brings the number of CW series from producers Kevin Williamson and the duo of Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage to two each. The Vampire Diaries co-creator Williamson co-wrote the witch tale The Secret Circle with Andrew Miller, based on the Alloy books and starring Britt Robertson. And Gossip Girl co-creators Schwartz and Savage are executive producing the small-town medical drama Hart of Dixie, written by Leila Gerstein and starring Rachel Bilson. With Secret Circle, Alloy will have 2 shows on the CW next season, including Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. Ringer, written by Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, stars Gellar as a girl on the run from the mob who assumes the identity of her twin sister. Ringer is from CBS TV Studios in association with ABC Studios, Hart of Dixie and Secret Circle from Warner Bros TV, and H8ER from Warner Horizon. All scripted series will now be co-productions between Warner Bros TV and CBS Studios.

with these 3 (including ringer) is this it, or is there room for 1 more? if so, which one?
Nikita?
Don’t care about any of the shows they’re picking up. WE WANT NIKITA!
come on! RINGER will be good… SMG back in action, will probably be better than NIKITA which as too many flaws
Please bring back Nikita!
Rob, you are about the most annoying twit on the web. How many times do you have to be told: NIKITA IS RENEWED. Stop your freakin’ whining.
Nikita will have a second season!
Both solid pilots
neither will make or break the CW
I read they were considering picking up Heavenly for midseason on another site.Any word on that?
SO happy Josh Schwartz,Rachel Bilson,Scott Porter and an Everwood meets Grey’s Anatomy plot line its like this show was built for me!Also I hope The Secret Circle is good I love The Vampire Diaries so will check it out. However, this makes me worry for Nikita with four new shows (Hart Of Dixie,The Secret Circle,H8R and The Ringer) that means only one bubble show will get renewed and we all know it will be One Tree Hill for a *sighs* NINTH season.
will the reality h8 be on the fall or in midseason?
And what bout awakening? Is it dead?
What about Wonder Woman? I realize CW probably won’t want to pick up 2 pilots made for other networks, but with Smallville over it would make a lot of sense. And the show is produced by Warner Bros., which is a half owner of the CW.
i was thinking the EXACT same thing
C’mon, Sarah Michelle; there’s still time to bail on ‘Ringer’. You were double-crossed here. I believe IMO that neither her, Ioan Gruffudd or Nestor Carbonelli would’ve done this pilot if they knew up front it was going to be a CW pickup. Classic bait and switch by CBS. SMG is too good for the See-Dub.
I’m really hoping Awakening gets picked up. It actually sounds good and would be a great companion to Supernatural on Fridays. I really hope CW actually picks stuff up for midseason instead of relying on poorly rated shows to fill slots. Also, is the CW considering opening up a block on Sundays?!?
exactly, does this mean awakening, dani lowitsky, and cooper & stone are all pretty much dead?
So glad, that Ringer’s pick up is official! I hope the CW won’t drop Ringer’s noir-ish elements and make it a sudsy chick-drama. I love me some SMG in a dark thriller. Hope the CW pairs it up with Nikita.
So what does this mean for Awakenings? Any chance there’s still room for a pickup? LOVE this pilot!
heavenly, cooper and stone? dead? heart beating?
I’m so glad they picked up Hart of Dixie and Ringer, but there’s something wrong, because all of us want Nikita renewed..
There’s still room for Nikita. One Tree Hill could get renewed for a 13 episode season. If H8ER is saved until midseason or to fill the gap between ANTM cycles and another scripted is saved for midseason, Nikita could feasibly be in for at least 13 episodes.
RIP Hellcats
i’m glad they pick up all three, sound exciting, now they just have to renew nikita. seems like a very solid development season for the cw.
I’ll chime in on the NIKITA! bandwagon.
So I guess that Wonder Woman rumor was just a rumor
I’m a little disappointed with The CW and their choices of keeping the “I’ve never even watched that show/That’s still on the air?” garbage like ‘One Tree Hill’ but also the more appropriate for Lifetme ‘Hart of Dixie’.
I like Rachel Bilson but the show itself appears less interesting than Everwood as well as being painfully miscast.
Thankfully ‘Secret Cirle’ REALLY fits The CW brand/demo and I’ll be checking that out but I would’ve really like to see them try something noteworthy like Wonder Woman or that cop show.
I give ‘Hart of Dixie’ 6 eps tops before it’s cancelled.
Nikita’s back! My favorite spank bank series!
I’m so glad Buffy, I mean SMG, is back…
A medical drama on the CW…good luck with that…
Yay for NIKITA being renewed…
Britt Robertson is so talented… Life Unexpected was too good for the CW anyway, i wish it could have went somewhere else, with so many WB veterans on it…tear…oh back to topic i hope her new show works out…
Bring Sherri Appleby back…with Jason Behr! the only couple to have equal/better chemistry than BUFFY/ANGEL was Max/Liz…
There seems to be more commenters about Nikita than actual viewers. How is that possible?
Secret Circle? Really? This was so lame. Just seems like this kind of teenie misfits drama formula has been done to death already.
A show like “Ringer” might be their best show since The WB’s demise. Not that I will watch it, or any other CW show because none appeal to me as an 18 year old male, but The CW has the chance to start building itself if scheduling is done properly.
