This is a surprise. Dish Network CEO Charlie Ergen announced today that he’s calling it quits. He’ll turn the reins of the No. 2 satellite company over to longtime consumer electronics executive Joseph Clayton next month. Ergen still controls Dish stock and will remain its chairman. Clayton had been chairman of Sirius Satellite Radio, and earlier helped to revive RCA as a consumer brand.
Ergen’s recent decision to buy Blockbuster out of bankruptcy seemed to provide just the kind of challenge that would intrigue an executive who became a multi-billionaire by outsmarting and
outlasting more powerful rivals including Rupert Murdoch. But while Ergen had become one of the most durable fixtures of the media business in his 31 years at the helm of the company he founded, he also provided plenty of signals that he was ready to pull back from the daily grind. Several years ago he drastically cut back on public appearances. He’s almost invisible aside from presentations he pretty much has to make to reassure Wall Street analysts and his own sales teams.
In 2009, Ergen gave up the CEO title at EchoStar, the unit he separated from Dish to develop electronics devices for consumers and the satellite company. Lately he has questioned whether the cable and satellite business model — selling packages of networks to consumers — can survive as Internet services such as Netflix make it easy for people to watch individual shows on demand. Ergen also has said that he’d let someone else run Dish once the company had found its footing. He apparently thinks Dish has as its stock spiked following the settlement of its five-year DVR patent infringement dispute with TiVo, and its report of solid quarterly results helped by a recent increase in subscription prices.


I am asking is to get my service back on I tried to set up payment arrangement to get my service back on and no one is trying to help me and that is wrong of ya’ll company because everyone do try to help and keep their costumer

Why don’t they ever appoint someone to these offices that are interested in customer service, and providing a good product for fair money? Dish is the worst Tv provider that I have ever paid a sevice fee.
Please be advised that you have one of the MOST RUDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN CHINA where you calls go too. We were promised that we would have customer service rep out to our home today between the hrs of 8am and 12 pm CST no one called or did they show up about 1:35-1:45 someone called and told me that they would not be back out to our house unitl either Saturday or Monday. You guys dont wait on the payments before the service is cut off. Our bill has been paid!!!!!!!!!!!! I have spoke with a CSR named John and he gave me a confirmation number of X1M1 when they called me back at 3:55 they told me that since we were not home this morning we would have to reschudle we were home and no one left a message on our phone unitl I talked to John and I told him we were home and that no one called or showed up!!!! A very rude lady called me at about 3:45 and told me that the appt had been canceled and they would not be coming out until sometime last week since we were not home this morning, I told her that was not true we were waiting and our gate was open. When we had our cable hooked up in the spring they took the cable of our local channels and when the dish goes out we have no service now. And , when they hooked up our system the sound has been off since then either no sound or groogled or very loud there is no happy medium with it. They told me they would be here on Friday when I called in on Tuesday and the person that gave me the appt was very , very nice. The last person I spoke with after I asked to speak with a Supervisor she cut me off that just compounded the problem when I called back again I and explained the problem and was cut off again after I was told that it was not going to happen for someone to be here today or tomorrow it will be next week and again I was cut off.Then I got to the China Representive and he didnt have a clue about what I wanted and I told him I was looking up the CEO of Dish Network and he said who is that dont know him do we a CEO of our company. What a way to run a business!!!! I want free time out of this and comtoplating where to turn to BBB of Tarrant. This was the reason we left Direct TV after 10 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m so happy to see that so many of us have the same problems with “dish”! This company and its founder have to be amoung the biggest crooks ever! When a law firm solicits your input for a class action lawsuit please cooperate! We may only get a pitance of money out of it several years down the road, but I’m almost certain that you (like me)will take great, great pleasure in helping to put these fothermuckers down!

I fell victim to Dish Network’s scam of not turning off service when told to do so and then billing for the month or so they left it on. Immediately after cancelling (I thought) my service I sent the reciever back so I didn’t know how long it still played.
I started getting calls from, I learned much later, a collection agency who after two years finally reported me to the credit report folks. For 49 dollars that I didn’t owe, my credit rating went from 743 to 632. When I talked with a Dish customer “dis-service” rep and asked to speak to a person one step higher in pay grade than he was he told me ;There is no one higher in customer service than I am”. I assumed I was therefore talking with the CEO of Dish Net. At any rate I have discovered my story is just one of possibly, millions and I intend to further pursue this matter. It’s not the 49 bucks folks, it’s the credit report rating. I was very proud of my 743 which has turned to crap because of deceptive practices by Dish Network. Can anyone at Dish Net spell “Tort Lawyer??
I have had the exacty issue and must have been speaking with the ceo as well because I was told there was not a supervisor. When asked for the e-mail for the ceo of dish I was told there is not one. I have called 5 times and hung up on three of the five times. The other two calls I was placed on an endless hold which forced me to leave a msg. No on has called me.
My account was suspended two days pior to making my usual monthly payment on the 15th of each month, first i was told it was suspended because i called in too many changes on my programming,,,then someone else told me that this was a “soft” termination cause I had always paid my bill a month behind for a year now. I told the supervisor that if their bills were so darn hard to read I would have known I was paying late, but my services were never disconnected, so anyway the supervisor told me that even if he could turn my services back on that the computer would shut it off again,,,because a payment was due today,,i have been with dish for 15 years I pay 155.00 a month and they refused to be flexible with me. so the next day I went online to their website, entered my account and there was a message there waiting for me, that all I had to do was click this button and my services would be restored, so I did, and guess what,,,my services were restored. So the supverisor either lied directly to me or is just stupid when it comes to his job. I must say that it appears that I know more about my channels and dish account then any dishnetwork customer service person.
To call DishNetwork incompetent would be a compliment.
I switched from century link to dish for phone and internet. We had a go live date of April 11th. I called to cancel the phone portion a day or two before. My internet with Century Link was cancelled the morning of April 11th but no modem arrived for me to switch. When I brought it to their attention they told me they would have to send it by UPS. It arrived on April 16th and it took 4 hours of support time with Dish and finally Century Link to get the internet working again. In the meantime my wife does medical transcription over the internet from home lost 3 days of pay and Dish refuses to compensate us for that except for not charging us for not being live on the internet.
They refused to send the modem overnight even though it was their mistake the modem was not sent on schedule.
They just don’t seem to care about their customers at all.

I wish I would have read these comments before I switched to Dish. I have had nothing but trouble with installation and service. After 3 months, things are still not settled. More and more, I can not get service “because something is blocking the satellite.” Well it is all clear on my side, no bad weather, no wind, etc. and I can’t watch anything, today I can’t even watch my recordings. You can’t reach a human to talk to when you call with problems. I just wish I could talk to you and try and get everything working properly if possible. I have noticed that billing is very quick since you have my credit card # to charge my account on and which I was lied to about from several of your employees. In fact there have been several lies and things hidden from the truth by your employees. Don’t think I will be referring new customers to you.
I was an installer for dish directly and am now a contractor. Dish really needs to be investigated for the criminal penny pinching behavior they exhibit. I could start with the laundry list but instead I’ll just summarize. Their mission is to get maximum profits at the absolute expense of all their workers. They will stop at nothing to achieve this by doing things such as kicking back performance evaluations in order to not give raises. Coming up with this idea of “preventable accidents”. These are accidents that aren’t your fault but are deemed “preventable by dish and therefore come with a 3 day suspension without pay. This is just a scam for them to get out of paying through their insurance. They used to have weekly meetings that talked about nothing except new ways of getting terminated. They create a promotion structure that is next to impossible to attain because any infraction lasted for three months and would prevent you from being promoted in that time even if you’re numbers were consistently awesome.
On the contractor side, they only charge you back if the fail qc is “parts” related. Basically if you use an unde eave mount that was approved forever but now is not because the struck a deal with a vendor, you get charged back. In the other hand, if the signal is really low and everything else is really bad you won’t be charged back. This further illustrates its all about the money and not the customer and certainly not their employees or partners.

In sum, I absolutely detest dish network and feel very strongly that they should be investigated. If they were to be investigated, I’m confident they would be finished
I have been watching nothing but reruns since september 2011 the same shit over and over again. And now they are chargeing me sixty eight dollars a month for nothing.And they will not return phone calls or e.mails. I don’t mind paying for a service but I do expect something for my money.If they can’t provide what they say then they need to be SHUT DOWN.
Regardless of all the negative comments I have been reading, I, as a consumer, feel I have always been treated very well by dish. I recently upgraded to a vip 922 receiver and it’s the cats meow. Probably one of the finest DVRs in the Universe. As far as I can see, it only lacks one programing feature to be the finest DVR. This feature in the 722 was called Dish Pass, and in the Hopper it’s called Seek and Record. I really hope the programmers will consider adding this feature in the next software upgrade. Then the 922 will stand alone as the BEST DVR MADE. I don’t want to put down the Hopper but every Hopper owner I have talked to said they wished they could have their 922 back and their $100.00 upgrade fee returned. Keep it up Dish. in my humble opinion, you’re doing one fantastic job.
I just want to say I will NEVER use Dish network again! When I cancelled my service in the month of February, It took Dish 5 months to get me my boxes to send back the equipment, and many minutes and calls on my cell phone to get this process done. Then they billed me extra because they screwed up & me! I will continue to tell my story and make sure people know Not to use or trust them. I sent a letter to the CEO, which I never got a response, guess it’s beneath him to reply, well, that’s what money and the words CEO do to people.
I HATE Dish Network, they have the WORST customer service in the world. I sat on the phone with them for 2 and a half hours today getting the run around, told mis information twice hung up on transferred 15 times and still no service. Now I have a headache and I’m irritated because of this stupid full of shit company, I am all for a class action…
A couple months ago . My receiver went bad so when I called they said they would send me a new one . And don’t worry about sending the old one back because I owned it . I wish you would listen to your recordings . So I got an email saying I was being charged for unreturned equipment . After I was told on the phone I owned it . Which wouldn’t be a big deal but I threw it in the trash . So a couple weeks ago I called customer service . Talked to a young man after a fee minutes on the phone he said it was taken care of wouldn’t be charged . Then I get an email saying I would and it showed up on the bill . If you record the calls you should listen to them . I hAve been lied to by your customer service 2 times now . I have been a customer for over 10 years . And this isn’t right and should be fixed . I hope that I receive an answer and not lied to again !
