NBC made a big headline at its upfront presentation today regarding Donald Trump. Trump took the stage to deliver the news: “After getting so many calls from (top NBC executives), I’ve decided that we are going to continue onward with Celebrity Apprentice. I will not be running for president, as much as I’d like to, and I want to thank everybody very much,” he said. “This will be our 12th season, and I have to say, I love Celebrity Apprentice.” Over the past few months, Trump had been publicly flirting with the idea of running for president. At some point, he mulled announcing his final decision on the season finale of Celebrity Apprentice but then scrapped that idea. Just yesterday, NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said on a conference call that NBC was working on plans to replace Trump on The Apprentice should he decide to run. After Trump’s statement, which drew big applause from the audience of ad buyers, Greenblatt quipped, “Every network wants to make news at its upfront. Try topping that!” UPDATE: At NBC’s lunch after the presentation, I heard that Trump informed NBC brass on Friday that he wanted to come to the upfront. Greenblatt told me that the network executives had a hunch that he might announce that he would stay on The Apprentice but didn’t know for sure until this morning.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

But he still says he could have fixed the country’s problems and would have likely been elected. (delusional)
Trump’s such a “patriot” and “true American” BUT he’s decided because so many NBC execs have called him he should BLOW OFF America’s needs for NBC!
What a total effing TOOL!!
Network television has been thrown to the idiots who’ll sit and watch amateur dancers, singers, skaters, comedians. . .anyone but actual professionals. Or celebrities. They’d sit and watch them brush their teeth for an hour.
And that show will be sponsored by Colgate.
Looks like Trump got trumped by Obama and Seth Meyers. It’s tough to run for President once you’ve been made a fool out of. Why Palin continues on is beyond me…
Guess that Correspondents Dinner was too much for The Donald. I’m glad he’s shown the nation where his priorities are – even though he’s sure that “I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election”. Keep dreaming Donald, the only thing you might win is your time slot. And you know what, America is all the better for your decision.
Campaign Adviser: “So Donald, if you run you have to show your income and tax returns.” Donald: “Tell NBC I’m coming back!”
well both NBC and the republican party should get down on their knees and thank him….he just saved both their asses!
One of the few sure fire hits ( gag, I can honestly say I have never watched it) and now the Reps can find themselves a serious contender….God luck with that!
I’m sure the GOP can find a bigger blowhard with less experience to try to run our country…
“I’m sure the GOP can find a bigger blowhard with less experience to try to run our country…”
Why not…that was a winning strategy for the Dems in 2008. Oh, I forgot…around here the two parties are held to two different standards. Community Organizer=adequate experience for the presidency if you’re a Dem. But if you’re a Rep no matter how successful you may have been at anything it would never be good enough to “qualify”. You’re all so predictable it’s laughable.
The Beltway and Hollywood have one thing in common– both are completely detached from reality.
It’s amazing to me the selective memory some right wingers have. Are you aware that Obama had another major job between being a “community organizer” and our president? Of course you do, you just want to revise history to suit your petty narrative.
I know he took his job so seriously that he voted ‘Present’ well over 100 times in his short stint as a state senator and when elected to the U.S. Senate he started his Presidential campaign almost right away. I don’t think he ever stopped campaigning that is why I laughed when he kicked off is 2012 election campaign. Organizer and chief. What an embarrassment!!
Again, selective right wing memory. Of course you already know that his “Present” votes were less than 3% of his total votes, but don’t let hard facts get in the way of your spin.
Doug said, “Organizer and chief. What an embarrassment!!”
You’re so obsessed with pushing your fantasy narrative, it IS embarrassing — for you.
GOOD RIDANCE, HES BACK ON THE CRAZY TRAIN.
No surprise there. As soon as NBC told him he’d be replaced on Apprentice, boom, decision made. His massive ego wouldn’t allow anyone else to take over his show. Just didn’t think it would come this quickly.
Kevin, great observation. I’m going to tweet it!
I was horrified at the thought of yet another candidate (pres or vp)with a reality show. I just want to see a candidate who hasn’t had their own reality show, ya know? Is that too much to ask?
If he ran for pres. his son Donald Trump jr [EDDY MUNSTER] could have taken over the show.
Bill Cosby called his bluff a month ago on the Today show. Donald is a funny guy. Anything for a buck.
now he can continue to be the pig that he is with absolutely no consequences. well at least this whole charade revealed something we all kinda knew; that he had absolutely no class and brains only for the empire he has created. I guess that’s huge but not something we all will have to experience any more than we voluntarily choose to.
Perhaps the capture of bin laden changed his mind. I don’t believe it was for publicity becausae he actually hurt his show — which is too bad because it was a great season
I truly hope this awful douche bag’s disrespectful behavior towards people of color and the political landscape hurts his : reputation ( personally & professionally ) , all his businesses , and finally put the last nail in the coffin of his mean-spirited pseudo-reality show.
Boycott this birther’s Apprentice sponsors.
This is terrible news!!! Trump running as a Republican would have all but guaranteed Obama a second term (not that it will be much tougher for Obama after OBL).
I think the complete shellacking of Trump at the Correspondents Dinner really got to him. He finally realized that everyone is laughing at him, not with him.
I doubt the Correspondents Dinner had that much do with Trump’s decision b/c he never planned to run in the first place. No one took this seriously, it was all just another publicity grab. I expect the Don’s showboating will continue throughout the elections. If nothing else, he’ll provide an amusing sideshow.
Bummer, I was hoping we would have both Trump and Palin running in 2012 in efforts to boost their reality shows.
I agree, Lily ~ that line was THE BEST! Obama laughing @ the Trump jokes was awesome. Must’ve felt great.
uhmmm Huckabee’s out – Trump is not running – Now who appears to gain here .. O yeah the one that is not to be mentioned – that women Palin… I can almost smell the rising stench of fear emitting from the liberal camps. The wolf is loose!
That’s Mama Bear to you.
Damn, he would’ve been great for Sound Bite America…
Eesh, what agent will be stupid enough to get their D-list client to spend two hours a week sucking up to a race-baiting d-bag. I can’t wait to see the lineup for next season. Victoria Jackson? Ted Nugent? David Duke? At least NBC doesn’t have much to lose.
Terrible….DT is the only one who has the courage to face the Progressive/Fascists who’ve stolen the Democratic Party.
Steve Colbert?
