Like she had said, NBC Cable chairman Bonnie Hammer is taking her time with finding a new president of E! to succeed Ted Harbert. Word is she is a few weeks away from making a final decision and is still considering a couple of outside candidates. Internally, marketing president Suzanne Kolb has emerged as the top candidate. Additionally, Hammer is planning to add scripted programming to the mix at E!. A search for a scripted executive is underway, with 2013 as a target date for launching E!’s first scripted series.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Suzanne Kolb is a smart, decent executive. Give her the job, already. She would be great!!
Will Chelsea Handler have to sleep with Ted’s replacement too?
I have known Suzanne for years, both personally and professionally and she would be an incredible choice. She inspires loyalty among her staff–people stay with her for YEARS (at least the good ones do). She would be a great choice to lead E! into it’s next incarnation—she is super smart and has amazing instincts–and she has demonstrated an incredible willingness to be flexible. Honestly, if I was her and hadn’t already been given that job, I probably would have taken one of the other offers that I am quite sure have been made to her!
I say give it to Lisa Berger. She’s the smartest exec I’ve ever gottan notes from and I’ve gotten quite a few from different neworks. She knows the marketplace and knows her audience.
Agree, Lisa has earned it by developing numerous hits and doing so consistently.
Kolb would be OK. So would Berger. Don’t see why they need to bring someone from the outside; the E formula seems to be working right now. Why mess with it?
they should bring back John Reiber…who was part of the team that made E great…they should have hired him instead of Mindy Herman…and that whole fiasco.
As long as its not KB.
Suzanne is a fantastic executive. She has the network in her blood and is smart, loyal, fair and everything you could want in a captain
Hopefully, women will reign in the sleaze that the now former head of the network turned it into. Wait, they may all want the sleaze.
Dear Bonnie,
Please make a decision relatively soon. Unless your last name is either Kardashian or Seacrest, the lack of leadership has affected your work in a negative way. Copying the competition and recycling ideas can only be successful for so long. Some new direction would be dandy.
Love,
