20th Century Fox TV and film divisions have partnered to produce GLEE LIVE! 3D!, a feature film based on the upcoming Glee Live! In Concert! North American tour. The studio plans to release the film for a two-week engagement starting Aug. 12. Gleeks who were unable to get tickets will be able to catch the concert in 3D. The tour starred 14 members of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning TV show, and the film will also feature behind-the-scenes moments. The feature will be directed by Fame helmer Kevin Tancharoen.
Given the rabid following that Ryan Murphy’s show has, this seems like as good as a cash machine for the studio. It worked for Sony on the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It! (whose limited run was extended, something that always seems to happen), and Paramount cleaned up with the Justin Bieber documentary Never Say Never.
The film features performances by series regulars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr, Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss and Ashley Fink. The concert tour finishes June 18 in Uniondale, N.Y., before moving on to the UK.

I smell “Battlefield Glee” or perhaps “Glee the Duck” on this one. If this kills the show, I will do a happy dance. Fox, enough already. What’s next…”Hell’s Kitchen-The Motion Picture?”
Like so many others have said, Glee has jumped the shark.. The first season bordered on brilliant and now all cast members have become campy caricatures of who they were in season 1…
Can’t wait till this show leaves the air.
…sometimes the comments here actually add something and when they do, that’s great because ideally, we’re all here to learn some news, get some tidbits, etc. But, not often. It sort of cracks me up that everyone wants to weigh in — “I love Glee” “I hate Glee” “Great idea” “This will suck”! Honestly, who cares what the haters or the lovers have to say? It’s all pretty anonymous so what does any of it matter?! Deadline’s comment page is starting to look like a Yahoo comment page. But, surely this forum can be better than that? Can’t it?
i luv luv luv glee
I won’t curse the darkness, I’ll light a candle: make the Glee movie but for Fox’s sake, make the 24 film! While Kiefer is still spry?!
Maybe the previous year, but Glee should be running out of steam. I think it’ll end up another ‘From Justin to Kelly.’ Make close to nothing. People are picky and they’re not going to pay 3D ticket prices to see a TV show.
Gee. I would love to sit through a 100-minute, 3D “Glee”-fest. But then, I also love unanesthetized root canal.
So this is what Al Queda had planned. Make us into showtoon sissy boys.
Come on. It’s a joke!
They should go back and pay attention to the TV SHOW. It went from being one of the freshest if not most brilliant new shows in year 1 to a weak parody of itself in year 2. Virtually the only storyline is about being gay…. wonderful but not wonderful if it’s the only one (I mean, do they think that’s going to keep a broad group of American viewers watching?)
It’s become a sing-a-long show. Sue is totally tired and over because they have no idea where her character should go. It’s the same thing over and over but so ridiculous that it’s no longer even funny.
Really sad season. And the falling numbers prove it.
Stop with all the other money-making ancillary stuff. FOCUS ON THE SHOW.
When is Fox gonna let these poor kids rest? They’re not Idol wannabees who are being milked and then tossed aside. These are working actors; maybe they’ll want to pursue other film projects in their off time. Tours, mall appearances, movies; the kids are going to get burned out.
Idol wannabees end up working at McDonalds, not coming to film a whole season of shows. It’s great the kids are busy, but seriously, let ‘em grab a nap occassionaly, jeez.
Since they’re letting the actors go at the end of next season, I’m sure the actors are more than happy to be cashing in on as much work as they can before the end.
It’s just a freaking concert people. Like many other people, I can’t afford to this concert live. Seeing it in a movie theater is the closest way I’ll get to ever being able to seeing them live and for that, I’m thankful.
I think its a great idea since I live in Venezuela and can´t go to the concert and worse are the retards that hate the idea but waste there time commenting it up yours glee haters!
