F. Gary Gray has been set to direct The Last Days of American Crime, the Sam Worthington-starrer that has a script by Karl Gajdusek. Gajdusek is rewriting the William Monahan script Oblivion for Joseph Kosinski to direct for Universal Pictures as his next film after Tron: Legacy. Both Oblivion and The Last Days of American Crime are titles from Barry Levine’s Radical Publishing. Worthington is expected to make this his followup to the Clash of the Titans sequel, Wrath of the Titans. His Full Clip Productions is producing with Automatik Entertainment and Radical Studios.
In the futuristic tale, America responds to a second major terrorism attack by developing technology that eliminates the impulse to commit crimes of any kind. Worthington leads a heist team that plans to pull off a final job five days before the signal rubs out the criminal instinct. Gray, who most recently helmed Law Abiding Citizen, and previously covered action turf with The Italian Job and The Negotiator, is repped by UTA and Principato-Young. The picture will shoot in September and will be sold in Cannes by IM Global.

Equilibrium with a dash of Minority Report.
Sam Worthington is going to star in all of the following forthcoming films in the next few years:
The Debt
Last Night
The Fields
Man on a Ledge
Commando
Dan Dare
Damaged
Quartermain
The Last Days of American Crime
Wrath of the Titans
Drift
Dracula Year Zero
The Candidate
Avatar 2
Avatar 3
He better be ready to deal with the consequences of overexposing himself the way he is.
The consequences of being getting massive paychecks and starring in big-budget movies? I’m not a Worthington fan, but if I were him, I could live with those consequences!
greenlit are wrath, and Avatar 2 (kinda) in which he would have to be blue face. Otherwise, what the heck are those other films? Smells like a pile of bad Collin Ferell films. Why no great directors, why no huge co-stars. yes he has a Cameron movie to save him,but this feels like a sinking ship, and not the Titanic.
The Fields is in the can. Ami Mann directed. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chloe Moretz also-starred. Sam with a Southern accent…we’ll see how that turns out.
Wow! I’m really sorry to hear this. F. Gary Gray is a genuinely nice guy, but Last Days of American Crime needs a *much* hipper director, somebody with a strong, exciting visual sense. I can’t even imagine him directing this!
I still can figure out how such a wooden actor gets so many roles.
Correction: I still can’t figure out how such a wooden actor gets so many roles.
It’s great to see F. Gary Gray back at it. He’s a talented director and I can’t wait to see what he does with this film!
I read this – it’s a great script and very cool idea. F. Gary Gray is going to crush this – he’s very talented and will know exactly how to tell this story and do it right. He’ll surely attract a stellar cast to surround Worthington. Kudos to IM Global for getting in on a smart business and artistic play here.
YESSSSSS!! Law Abiding Citizen was a kickass flick. The Italian Job, The Negotiator, Set It Off, Friday – F. Gary Gray knows how craft entertaining movies. This one sounds like it’s right in his wheelhouse. Cool idea, interesting world, hot movie star. Really hope this one comes together.
Based on the comic by Rick Remender.
He really only got 3 roles at this point. I don’t see this project ever happening. Radical/Levine have never done anything. Wannabe.
