CBS just officially closed the deal to renew Rules of Engagement for a sixth season, hours before the network’s upfront presentation tomorrow. This is late but great news for producer Sony pictures TV as the pickup is for a full season. After serving as a backup with partial orders for several years, the veteran multicamera comedy has now landed two full-season pickups in a row.

What about Hail Mary starring Minnie Driver?? I was an extra in its pilot and I hope it gets picked up!
What about Hail Mary??
The Doyle Effect in full effect.
Fantastic! This show has definitely grown to be one of my favorite current sitcoms in its last two seasons! Another 24-episode season would bring the show to 96 episodes! And just to think, before this first full fifth season, we were only at 48 episodes! Now, we’ll be ending the fifth season at 72 episodes!
great. shows great. they need to leave it in one spot all year. give it a chance.
wonder where this leaves the possibility of the Rob Schneider show pickup? Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
Awesome!! Love the cast, show has grown on me tremendously. Patrick Warburton is probably the only actor that can get belly laughs out of one syllable
I thought this was already reported. I know that last year CBS had to get a full season order, they couldn’t do the 13 episodes anymore — i wonder why that was and if it was the same way this year.

It’s a great and well written show that deserves another chance.
The ratings just WERE NOT THERE – RERUNS of CBS comedies were doing better.
I’m tired of fans who try to save shows that don’t take the time to look at the big picture – The ratings, as well as the other business aspects of why a network keeps a show on the air.
I’m sorry. This show has been a generic piece of crap since it first appeared… Wait a minute, are you telling me men are different from women? Wife: “I want shoes!” Husband: “You spent what on shoes?!” Come on. Someone. Do better!
You are absolutely correct, but you can’t tell me you’re not happy that Patrick Warburton earns a regular check. I mean, c’mon – he’s the most unlikely of TV stars. Also, he’s The Tick. Let’s just all be happy for Patrick Warburton because, frankly, he’s awesome and maybe if he makes enough money on this whatever he does next will be “Tick”-like.
Don’t fret for Warburton. He earns so much money from cartoons and voiceovers that he doesn’t have to worry about his retirement years. This show just allows him to have his face associated with the voice that everyone hears.
I’ve been happy about this since last Wednesday. Nice to see that being moved to Thursday’s against A.I. didn’t work against it.
@Ryan…actually, 24 episodes next year brings the total 2 98, they shot 26 this season…even though only 24 are going to air, they picked up the extra 2 when Charlie started winning!
They only shot 24. The 26 was an error on the reports. CBS confirmed only 24 were shot. They were only going to do 22, and the 2 extra after Charlie was for 24.

This show has gotten much better over time and deserves some solid ground.
Fantastic– every writer in Hollywood should have a point in this turd considering there has NEVER, not once been a joke featured that was original. Once again the American tv viewer pays the price for vertical integration. Rules-CBS ownership=12 and out. P.U.
That show has been a piece of crap since it first aired! Really? Men are different from women?
Wife: “I need shoes” Husband: “You spend too much on shoes!”. Please. Someone. Do better.
i am shocked that this show is still on the air. i am a fan of the cast, but still surprised it has lasted this long.
Nice to know Bob TV also goes by the name Suzanne…
So excited Rules is coming back for another season. I’ve watched this little show from the beginning and have always found it charming. A fun ensemble cast that has really found their rhythm. Writers– more Adam and Jennifer!
congrats Tom. You still dress like the Unabomber but hey…
Officially making Oliver Hudson the luckiest person in the biz.
It’s crappy shows like this that make people stop watching scripted programming.
it’s people like you who make intelligent citizens to not want to name their kids SheNeNe. or Apple.
We get it — some of you like the show, some of you don’t. Anyone have anything productive to add?
Agreed, but it’s Emmy-caliber compared to Mad Love, which liberally robbed How I Met Your Mother without any charm.
that’s awesome star cast
That’s great news!
Um… WHY?
DAVID SPADE – 5 YEARS = PAULY SHORE.
