what is it with this guy and the lens flares
Yeah – and where’s the story?
I love, love, LOVE the oldschool 80s popcorn feel this movie has – casting, camera angles, the setting…. Can’t wait to see it.
Love the lens flares, quite a cheeky trademark. Makes you want to see the image, stimulates the visual cortex. Certainly has the mentor elements of ‘Close Encounters’, but with such an iconic movie, the points of difference will hopefully be on display to a eleviate overt comparison.
Want to see some originality brought to the ‘party’, that may well be in the authored script and its drawn characterizations. Hopefully there will be some original and engaging depth beyond the by the numbers kid and parents under social pressure templates we’re used to.
that’s a thriller movie
there is going to be a keg at the moon tower! WAIT…
everything down to the Cars in the soundtrack just feels like epic win.
it may have the smallest opening weekend of any of the summer’s major releases but i predict it will have the longest, biggest legs
I agree. This looks like one of those great surprises that just keep going week after week. Looks phenomenal.
Beg to differ. That clip does nothing for me. I hope the film offers more.
is this movie about Superheroes or Camera film?
It doesn’t know if it wants to be a saccharine sweet kids adventure movie or Cloverfield 2. I predict a major BO fail and Abram’s aura will diminish.
if the mosnters don’t scare, nobody’s gonna care
Weird, choppy clip.
It’s people like JJ and these movies they make that will inspire the next generation of creators.
while admitting that I understand the plot of this film, this trailer is garbage. If you don’t know anything about this film, you’d think it was about a train crash with lousy visual effects. I have zero desire to see this movie, based on the new trailer. yawn. It’s like saying the Godfather was about a shooting in an Italian restaurant.
Still wondering how one pickup truck derails an entire train.
Still…wondering.
Hopefully the movie clears up this mystery for me.
1) It’s a movie.
2) In 2005 a man bent on suicide parked his SUV on Metrolink tracks in Glendale, California. Eleven people died in the derailment, none of whom was the creep who’d parked his truck on the tracks.
looks silly. such a stretch. they’re shooting a little super 8 movie?
Please…
Super 8 film is cool. How do you think Spielberg and Abrams got started?
The Super 8 film format still has devoted fans. The TV show “Globe Trekkers” uses Super 8 film in every episode. Music “videos” use super 8 all the time, check out Zooey Deschanel’s “Thieves” video.
Many wedding movie makers use Super 8 and all the stars use film NOT digital, to document their weddings. I recently saw a “White Stripes” concert(“Blackpool Nights”), filmed entirely in Super 8. Kodak makes a wider variety of Super 8 film stocks now than ever before.
Super 8 film is magic.
Cannot wait for this!
Bad stuff. Count me out.
Super boring.
How has nobody commented on the editing of this? It’s great, if that’s the pace of the movie then count me in!
