Warner Bros is up with a teaser trailer for Final Destination 5, offering a sample of the gruesome deaths that await a group of people who cheat death and pay the price: incredibly graphic, well-choreographed demises. The original New Line film was clever, the second darkly funny and the rest have felt somewhat repetitive. The fifth installment will be released in 3D on Aug. 12.

I agree with you about the repetition, Mike, but these films are still on my Guilty Pleasures list. It’s all about making the deaths of young people as horribly gnarly as possible and then thinking of some basic way of stringing them together. I’m sure the writers take their inspiration from Tex Avery!
I am eagerly waiting the day when the sequels of various movies begin to number 10 and above. Saw 13, Scream 21, Final destination 17 etc.
RogerThat – Uhm… Land Before Time did 13 total movies… so… you have already been living the day when sequels begin to number 10 and above. Then of course… James Bond is now on #22 I believe. When the next Star Trek film comes out, that will be the 12th one…
Relevant to the trailer: Why Final Destination keeps going? I dont know… Dying from Acupuncture, yawn. Dying from Laser eye surgery in a room where there are no other nurses or help staff of any kind to monitor a patient after they’ve been prepped and left on the table… ridiculous. Did she go to the back alley eye doctor? The VFX on the bridge collapsing look horrible. I… I dont know why this was ever made. Just looks atrocious.
Here is why it was made? Profit from FD4. 66.7m domestic, 120m foreign. 40m to make. Every decision is bottom line for WB. Hence you get Clash of the Titans 2, Hangover 2 and FD5.
Lets leave Hangover 2 out of this. It looks hilarious. And I know 90% of us who loved the Hangover will be seeing the sequel.
i don’t care whether you roger this, that, these or those. movie will be a smash hit and as it’s the directing debut of jim cameron’s long time protege the 3D experience will stand out from the pack
Wow, this movie looks a lot BIGGER than the other ones. The bridge looks huge. I heard their test screening was the best of the whole franchise too. I’ll see it.
Haha – I LOVE the “Final Destination” movies. The fourth one was pretty bad, but there’s just something great about this ridiculous franchise. Tony Todd’s return is awesome, too. I hope they make 13 of these.
What’s weird is that the first one is its own, somewhat dated creature. The second one has the greatest of all opening kills, but the third one feels like a better first movie now than the actual first one. The fourth one felt like a straight-to-video sequel to the third.
That is a gross and offensive trailer. Don’t want to get trapped in a theater with that!
Time for someone to drop the bomb on Hollywood so we can start all over with fresh ideas that are actually good.
