EXCLUSIVE: The 2011 Cannes Film Festival hasn’t even really gotten under way yet, and the deals are flying — even for pictures that aren’t part of the festival program. I’m told that IFC will acquire domestic distribution rights to the French film Un Amour de Jeunesse (Goodbye First Love). Written and directed by Mia Hansen-Love, the pic takes place in spring 1999, where 15-year-old Camille and 19-year-old Sullivan have a passionate relationship that is threatened when he decides to go to South America for a year. After he slowly stops writing to her, she attempts suicide but then puts her life back together, alone. Hansen-Love last directed the acclaimed Father Of My Children.

When I first red the description of GFL I was yucked but when I saw that it’s by Mia Hansen-Love, the same director of Father of my Children (a fantastic and devistating movie that I loved) my interest piqued.
I’m in.
How soon will we see this on IFC or in theaters?
