As expected, NBC today officially picked up perennial bubble show Chuck for a fifth and final season with a 13-episode order. It joins Parenthood and Harry’s Law, which were picked up yesterday. Still in limbo (but not looking good) are Law & Order: LA, which has an outside chance, The Event and Outsourced.

Duh. It’s a lot easier for a show to get renewed when the audience that loves the show also loves the advertiser. But it’s also a fluke that the show, audience and advertiser fit together so well.
FTR, due to the statistical likelihood of new series cratering out of the starting gate (within the first 4-7 episodes, sometimes even earlier), I’d say that the odds are better than 50% that Chuck will get a back 9 — the potentially 22nd episode of the 5th season would be the 100th. But I’m not going to get cocky about it, either.
Hooray! This is my favorite news of the season so far. Even if its a 13 episode order to close out the show and finalize everything, I am happy. This show just has such a charm to it that surpasses the cheesy VFX shots that are laced into each episode. The chemistry between all the characters is just magical. Love it.
CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love love love this show! I was steeling myself to say goodbye but at least happy for a truncated season to finish strong.

Some NBC exec or his/her spouse must really love Chuck. That show has 9 lives! Please move The Event to Sci-Fi or some other cable network. It’s not anywhere near perfect, but at least it’s something different.
SyFy doesn’t do SciFi anymore. If it is wrestling or a reality show maybe, but definitely not a SciFi show.

Talk about sticking by a show.Chuck only brings in about 4M viewers on a Monday night, with a 1.4 in the 18-49 demo and it still gets renewed.
Time to celebrate! This is truly the right decision for Chuck. With a fifth and final season, the writers can close the show with a bang.
I’m very happy about this as surely other die-hard Chuck fans are. It’s exactly what we fought for during the campaigns. It’s such a lovable show, from the fun story lines to the charming characters. I’ll be sad to see it go, but half a decade of their awesomeness is more than we can ask for.
WHY ?
I think they got lucky again- if Wonder Woman had been any good at all, NBC picks it up and Chuck would have probably been canned. At least the producers now know they have a definite end date and can figure out how to end the series.

It’s something like 10 episodes away from syndication and has a rabid fan base; I’m not surprised by this, especially since it is a half order and they are calling it “the final season.”
I’m running out of TV to watch…I am glad this is renewing for the last 13 episodes. I’ll miss it once it goes. It’s a fun one to watch!
On the one hand I commend NBC for supporting a show with a loyal/passionate fan base…but on the other I just see this show as a non-hit show, low rated and taking a spot from a more interesting show like Wonder Woman or 17th Precinct.
Chuch has had THREE SEASONS already! Give another show a chance at mediocre ratings!

IF Chuck is finally over…. And I get the feeling that Castle may make only one more season (season 4)….
Nahhh, it’s too crazy, but that means two Firefly Actors are free… MAYYYBEEE (if it wasn’t so crazy) they would be more inclined to restart Firefly… Maybe… Probably not.
why will it be the final season its a great show all anyone has to do is watch it try watching it from the start first show up to now the end of season 4 then you will understand what its all about I am 56 and i love it kinda makes the week easer to deal with lets keep on NBC and see if we can make it a few more seasons
Leave it to NBC to get you hooked on a series and then drop it, i.e. Heroes. Bring back The Event, bozos, or count me out as a regular viewer.
Chuck is like the Lopez show to me, I never really looked at it but when I did I was hooked and couldn’t wait to see a new episode!…..
