Multi-talented performer and chart-topping artist Nicole Scherzinger and British TV personality Steve Jones will host THE X FACTOR, the highly anticipated singing competition series debuting this fall on FOX. Scherzinger, who recently served as a guest judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor,” is a singer, songwriter and performer and Jones began his career as a fashion model and has gone on to host some of the U.K.’s biggest TV shows.
From the auditions right through to the live performance shows, the duo will follow the contestants and judges onstage and backstage to share the raw emotions and electrifying performances with viewers at home every week.
“These two are going to be great together,” said Simon Cowell. “I have always wanted Steve to work with us; I think he is a real star. Nicole is fantastic. I loved working with her on the U.K. ‘X Factor’ last year. She is gorgeous and super-talented.”
“I am thrilled to be asked by Simon Cowell to host THE X FACTOR,” said Scherzinger. “I loved working alongside Simon on the U.K. show, and cannot wait to see what he has in store for the U.S. I’m so excited to work with Steve Jones and help discover astounding talent from across the country!”
“I couldn’t be happier to be coming onto THE X FACTOR,” said Jones. “The ability to work day in and day out with Simon Cowell is a dream come true. I am honored to have that opportunity and thrilled to be able to share the stage with Nicole Scherzinger, whom I adore. I have been approached about working in the States before, but never felt right about those opportunities. But when THE X FACTOR came up, I lept at the opportunity.”
“Nicole is a triple-threat performer who knows how to captivate an audience, and Steve is an accomplished presenter whose original sense of humor has charmed viewers worldwide. Both possess the unique combination of personality and credibility that we were looking for in our hosts,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “They’re incredibly charismatic, undeniably gorgeous, and fantastic entertainers in their own right.”
“A student of the performing arts since childhood, Nicole Scherzinger is a talent tour de force whose track record spans many creative genres, while Steve Jones is a multi-talented U.K. personality with consummate hosting skills and a signature charm, humor and style that is all his own,” said executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. “I’m very pleased to have them both on board THE X FACTOR, where their respective experiences will bring a special and authentic chemistry to their roles as co-hosts.”
Auditions for the next global superstar or breakout music group continue with the final stop in Dallas, TX, on Thursday, May 26.
THE X FACTOR is searching for undiscovered talent 12 years old or over – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are willing to brave the panel for a chance to win a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. Interested solo artists and vocal groups should sign up now for audition information at www.fox.com/theXfactor or call toll-free 855-345-5678.
In a departure from other singing competition series, the first time contestants audition for THE X FACTOR judges, including Simon Cowell, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Cheryl Cole, they will do so in front of an audience of thousands – raising the stakes and increasing the pressure to impress not only the judges, but also a potential legion of fans. This will be the ultimate test to prove they have the vocal ability, charisma and stage presence that it takes to win an unprecedented $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music.
As previously announced, Pepsi will serve as an official sponsor of THE X FACTOR. The comprehensive sponsorship includes an extensive, multi-platform off-air marketing partnership; weekly in-show integrations and placements; and an immersive content experience online.
THE X FACTOR is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. Simon Cowell, Rob Wade and Siobhan Greene are executive producers for Syco Television. Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Richard Holloway and Andrew Llinares serve as executive producers for FremantleMedia North America.

I smell a flop. These names are not exciting and the format’s been done.
nicole scherzinger is watchable.
To those of you complaining about the star power of the judges. Please keep in mind that Simon Cowell is a big star here in the States and tv also creates stars.
these shows can make stars out nobodies. if the midwest eats it up as they probably will, they will be household names. it’s a sad state of affairs.
Who is complaining? Chezza, Simon, LA Antonio, Pa Ab, Nicole Pussydoll and Steve Irwin. AWESOME, just AWESOME.
This will be a fantastic music fireball. Maybe they locked out all the stars to make the show like a social experiment, where the most famous man in the world is making not just stars from singers, but he is the fairy god mother who rescues the broken ones.
Simon is the king master zombie warlock love monster.
If he brings back Paula, it’s going to get a lot of attention, Plus, she’s a fun train wreck to watch. Plus, there will be lots of diva squabbling between her and Cheryl Cole.
..let’s also remember when American Idol premiered in 2001: Seacrest, Cowell, Jackson, and Abdul were hardly A-list talent.
I smell a major hit. After the debacle of this year’s AI, can’t wait for a show where judges actually judge, actually critique, actually constructively criticize for all the right reasons. After the lovefest that is the AI judges, I look forward to Simon’s occasionally harsh, but usually spot on critiquing (God I missed that this year).
Paula and Simon together were always great to watch and there are plenty of fans out there looking forward to them reuniting.
The format of auditions in front of the audience will add a whole new depth to the competition.
I love that it’s age 12 and up to any limit…… love to see a Susan Boyle or Paul Potts arise from the ashes, something we’d never see on AI.
$5 million dollar prize means they darn well better step up (as they should).
Not at all concerned about C Cole. She’s a huge hit in the UK and Simon says she’s great so I’m willing to give her a chance to show that.
Looking forward to this. Bye bye AI. Hello X Factor.
I agree with Elaine…if X Factor does exactly what America’s Got Talent has been doing all Summer, but with a bigger prize, it could really score.
Auditions in front of audiences – check
No age limit – check
Whacky – check
Susan Boyle – Britain’s Got Talent….check
Paul Potts – Britain’s Got Talent….check
Who?
So what was wrong with Corbin Bleu according to the pussy cat singer /b list dwts contestant?
Funny how Simon the producer is a kiss ass while Simon the judge was straight forward in his feelings about non talents like Nicole Scherzinger.
I guess this means we should expect one or two of the following judges from the UK X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent to join the USA X Factor’s judging panel as well:
Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh, Amanda Holden, Michael Mcintyre
I’m still not understanding the inclusion of Nicole. I think she’s great and would’ve been a decent choice as a judge but look at the dramatic elimination portion of the show…can you actually see her doing this? does her voice convey the dramatic overtone we get from Ryan Seacrest and Dermot O’Leary? I’m seeing her getting a smaller and smaller role as time goes on or she’s doing the fluff interviews. We don’t need two and it’ll be a shame when people start calling Nicole ‘The New Dunkleman”. There’s already two glam divas on the panel Nicole, as great as she is, will just come off as some underling wannabe. Cut her loose now Simon and just stick with Jones.
The only steve jones that could possibly make me tune into this festering pile is jonesy from the sex pistols. I would love to hear him label contestants as either pants or mustard week in and week out.
So the guitarist of the Sex Pistols is summarily dismissed as some random British TV personality?
My mistake. A different Steve Jones. Lame. I was actually almost interested in this garbage.
I agree. Steve Jones of the Pistols would make it watchable. And he’d be damn good too. He really knows about every kind of music. But as it is, ptui.
WOW U.S.XFactor is going to be GREAT. can’t wait and CHERYL IS AWESOME
if Nicole accepts her role as the pretty albeit boring face of X factor, she’ll be fine.
X Factor is not just America’s Got Talent with a big prize!
You can look forward to multi-generational differences being explored. Cheryl is so young, a beautiful talent honey pot. Simon is like her harsh strict father who just wants the best for her. Paula Abdul is like the spurned first wife, who drinks to escape the bitter precipice of her fading looks and dry sex, La Antonio will be the fool they all ridicule, but his foolishness will also be wise.
Nicole Pussydoll and Steve Irwin will preside over all the train wreck and then someone will be plucked from obscurity and destroyed!
Drama
Nicole won’t be the new Dunkleman. She’ll be the new Brooke Burke. LMAO!
This whole thing has been dragging on so long that it feels like it’s already run its course and been canceled already. I smell total fail funk with this.
love Nicole! Good luck to her
Nicole Scherzinger? Steve Jones?? WHO???
Steve Jones is a TERRIBLE presenter (and hugely arrogant). Just look up his presenting skills on the E! coverage of this year’s BAFTAS. Talk about dying on his ass….
And why are American shows so against American presenters? I’m British, and trust me, out presenters aren’t that great…!
Steve Jones is GREAT! He’s FRESH which is just what this format needs considering it has Paula, Cheryl, Nicole and Simon. Move over the VOICE …
