Below is video of Katie Couric’s final minutes as anchor of CBS Evening News. Her last broadcast was today. There is speculation that Couric has reached a deal with ABC for a syndicated talk show, which CBS has the right to match. (UPDATE: I hear she is in advanced negotiations.) Couric’s successor at CBS Evening News, Scott Pelley, starts June 6.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

And CBS News replies, “… and don’t let the door hit ya Ka-Ka-Katie.”
Way too much makeup. Weird looking eye job/face lift and bizarre lighting on her. She seems to be trying to look like the beautiful Lara Logan/ Look forward to Scott Pelley taking over.
That last 5 minute compilation was WAY too much about Katie and not enough about the events that occurred on her watch since 2006. It’s not like she made much news during that time anyway (except for nailing Palin on her reading habits).
CBS is better off with Scott Pelley in the anchor chair.
abc cancelled the soaps for this………bad idea, she’s not oprah. Maria Shriver is a much better fit.
The professional luck that katie has is unbelieveable. She sunk the CBS news even further, and they still kept her for the full term and now everyone is courting her. What makes them think she’ll be a hit?
The woman needs to thank someone upstairs. The most overpaid and under-talented person in the history of media and she just keeps getting jobs.
Thanks for the great story telling? What? Sounds like all the news was just made up stories when she said that…Next time, Just the facts, Ma’am.
Soon she will be another nail in the coffin of the ABC network.
I’ll never forget her extreme excitement when the U.S. was poised to invade Iraq (she was still on the Today Show back then). She was thrilled that bombs were going to drop and people were going to die. She’s worse than a joke as a journalist. Bu-bye, Katie!
Wow, seriously uninspired.
Bob Schieffer had a much more memorable signoff in 2006 – and he was a temp.
It was an interesting experiment. She’s just not suited for the evening newscast. Scott Pelley is an excellent choice. BUT, CBS News should never have let John Roberts slip away.
CBS’ demise started when Dan Rather forced Walter Cronkite out of the anchor chair. I was never so secretly pleased when Rather WAS FIRED. I stopped watching The CBS Evening News the day Rather was anchor and haven’t tuned in since.
With respect to Katie Couric, hard news IS NOT HER FORTE. She is a Today Girl. A daytime show is just perfect for her. I never watch daytime tv.
i loved her work, she had a presence cbs will be hard to replace.im sorry to see her go but im sure she will be back somewhere and i will see her over and over again she is that good…
Scott Pelley? Eh. He was okay as Frasier’s brother Miles, but he’s kind of fey to be a serious news anchor.
She still is a media darling to the networks and a fade out morning newsreader to the public viewers!
