Burbank, CA – May 23, 2011 – Legendary Entertainment has appointed Joel Chiodi as Executive Vice President, Branding and Social Marketing it was announced today by Legendary’s Chairman and CEO, Thomas Tull. In this newly created role reporting to Tull, Chiodi will be responsible for furthering the company’s goal to reach the powerful fandom demographic through entertainment and marketing platforms including social media, digital strategies, promotions and events. Chiodi will support the company’s mandate to grow Legendary’s global imprint, as the company develops wholly-owned IP through its film and television platforms as well as the Legendary Comics division. Legendary’s film properties are marketed through Warner Bros marketing division through Legendary’s co-production and co-financing partnership.
Chiodi joins Legendary from NFL Network, where he held the role of VP, Marketing. While there, Chiodi was a part of the team that grew the network from 28 to 57 million homes. He helped lead the marketing efforts on one of the NFL’s most successful product launches, NFL RedZone channel, and promoted key games and programming including NFL Thursday Night Football and NFL Draft. In addition to managing partnerships and promotions, Chiodi also created and managed “Keep Gym In School,” NFL Network’s award winning community relations program that refurbishes physical education programs around the country, for which Chiodi won the 2011 PromaxBDA Sports Media Marketing – Cause Marketing Award.
