EXCLUSIVE: Barbara Wall is stepping down as EVP television for Lionsgate. Wall, who served as head of development and current programming at the indie TV studio, will stay on as a producer until her current contract expires in the fall. The search is underway for her successor. The reasons for Wall’s departure are unclear (some say she felt it was time after six years at Lionsgate), but the timing of the executive changeover coincides with the beginning of the next TV development cycle. Since joining Lionsgate in 2005, Wall has been instrumental in building Lionsgate’s scripted TV slate, which includes AMC’s Mad Men, Showtime’s Weeds, NBC’s anthology series Fear Itself, Starz’s Crash and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. She also shepherded development by Lionsgate-based producers Clyde Phillips and Stanley Tucci & Steve Buscemi. Before Lionsgate, Wall was EVP production and development for Heel and Toe Films, where she helped develop the pilot for Fox’s House. She also has held programming posts at 20th Century Fox TV, TNT and Fox.

Barbara Wall is a great executive and a wonderful person. She has MANY MANY fans in the business and she will do great in her next step. She deserves all the good that will come to her.
Barbara is indeed a great person and she deserves good things in the years to come.
Agreed. She is great.
Agree! Barbara is a great exec – has the best taste and incredibly smart notes. One of the few execs who actually reads, does her homework and doesn’t just rely on credits.
Barb is the only reason that LF tv division exists. She salvaged the Mad Men deal and sheparded many great projects thru to series. Jon should have made her prez. Now she may be the first of many taking the leap from this disfunctional group. Good luck you’ll be missed.
I love Barbara. She is smart, passionate and fights for the projects she believes in. She is also direct, honest and charming. And very dedicated. I wish her luck and success in whatever she does next.
I agree with all of the remarks above. Barbara’s a class act and it’s a shame that that trio of Kevin, Sandra and Barbara isn’t continuing because they’re among the nicest and most down to earth folks doing business out there. Beyond Barbara’s great taste is her truly fantastic sense of humor. She never seemed to take any of this too seriously and she knows how to cut it up with the best of them. I’m sure she’ll get scooped up as an executive some place, but if not, she’d be a great producer.
Love Barbara. She’s a wonderful woman who is smart, creative and supportive of the writers she works with. She will excel wherever she goes.
Wonderful woman. Barbara has great taste and is a great advocate for talent. She helped build Lionsgate from nothing to a strong, multi-Emmy winning, boutique studio. She’ll be missed, but will land someplace better.
Good luck Barbara……you’re one of the best!!!!
Barbara was a smart, insightful executive who never got in the way of the creative process and she will be missed. Her passion and enthusiasm to my show was unmatched. Not sure where she’s headed next, but any other studio will be lucky to have her. GOOD LUCK BARBARA!
Only pitched to her once — high profile series — from minute one I could tell I was in good hands — whether she bought the project or not. (Which she didn’t). She’s a writer’s best friend. Wherever she goes, I will follow…Good luck, Barbara! (:-
Nothing but good things to say. She is a great exec!
Gosh, I wanted to add to the conversation… but I’d only be repeating what everyone else has been saying!
I only knew her during my time at FOX, but all these years later it does not surprise me that she is the same smart, talented and fun person she’s always been!
Congrats, B! I see great things on your horizon!
In a world where execs no longer are trained, Barb is one of the few out there that really cares more about “the work” than politics. She’s more about making shows better than kissing the butts of pampered Showrunners who don’t like notes or network EVP’s that were assistants 4 years ago. Anyone out there that has real problems to solve and is willing to back her up, will see their network or studio transformed by hiring her. They don’t make them like this anymore.
Much respect BW!
DITTO to all of the above; Barbara combines true creativity with a pitch-perfect business sense. She should be running her own division or company.
So glad to see all the Barbara love; she is for sure one of the sharpest, most dedicated, and absolutely the most hard-working executive out there. She is no-nonsense, smart as hell and a true lover of television–a scarily rare combination in this business. She cares passionately about the material and making it the best it can be: always, priority number one. She should absolutely be running a network or studio–she has the vision, the intelligence, the excellent taste and the vigor to create and maintain a classy TV brand. If she isn’t in about five minutes I’ll be shocked–and not a little disappointed.
