EXCLUSIVE: TV Land successfully ventured into original series with multicamera comedies headlined by famous sitcom stars. Now another cable network whose brand is built on reruns of classic sitcoms, Nick at Nite, is looking to do the same with a project created by and starring Happy Days alum Scott Baio. Nick at Nite, the primetime and overnight block of Nickelodeon, is developing Daddy’s Home, a multicamera half-hour starring Baio as a stay-at-home dad. Tina Albanese and Pat Labyorteaux (CSI) are writing the script and executive producing alongside Baio, Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey, creator/exec producer and co-star on Baio’s reality series Scott Baio Is 45 … And Single. After 10 years of being spoiled and pampered as America’s favorite “TV Dad,” ironically unprepared David Hobbs (Baio) becomes a stay-at-home father to his three young children in order to honor the deal he made with his soap opera star wife so that she may return to the limelight. Nick at Nite announced a push in original programming in 2008 with the acquisition of the Michael Eisner-produced animated series Glenn Martin D.D.S. but has been quiet on the original-series front since and is yet to launch a live-action scripted series besides the short-lived 1991 collaboration with ABC Hi Honey, I’m Home. Daddy’s Home was packaged by CAA, which reps Bischoff and Hervey. Baio is with Talentworks.

This would have bothered me a few years ago, but now that Nick at Night has abandoned great shows like “Mary Tyler Moore” and “I Love Lucy” for garbage like “Roseanne” and “George Lopez,” I could care less. I won’t be watching.
I agree that Nick & Nite (& TV Land) failing miserably with abandoning “REAL” classic TV- I still may give it a chance.
Actually, Nick at Night abandoned those shows more than just a “few” years ago. And even shows like Roseanne are classic by modern standards, maybe they should do like a combination of the older classics and more modern ones.
Wonderful news for Patrick and Scott, two very nice guys! Congrats! Sounds like the perfect show for Nick at Nite.
Is this the same Scott Baio who disrespected the First Lady via Twitter last year? If so, he better hope that Nick at Nite doesn’t find out, because if they do they’re more than likely to test those original comedy waters with someone else!
Sounds great! I LOVE me some Scott Baio!
What about that Bill Cosby cartoon?
The guy is pushing 50 so good luck Scott.
So excited! Scott Baio rocks!
i couldnt of said it better, i always loved Scott whatched all the happy days and Charles in charge
Baio has always been political and outspoken…thats why he is liked…Business wise, SMART…He’s proven himself several times in front of a show…He was also part of Confessions of a Teen Idol on VH-1…Did they forget to mention that one? Looks like he was the smartest out of them all…MOre scripted for the biz always better than reality.. Good Luck!
I would watch..Go Chachi…and Wayne Arnold..HA
This is so great! I worked with both Patrick & Tina years ago on JAG and I remember them working on this idea then. Way to go! Nickelodeon is perfect – Baio is perfect! The script was a great read but now I can’t wait to watch!
Scott is very talented and is still very sexy and attractive at 50. Let’s give it a chance
The very best news we have heard in a long time.
We shall be eagerly awaiting this new series.
Scott Baio deserves to continue working on television and in movies
no matter what negative messages jealous trolls on the internet
constantly spew forth.
Good luck to Scott and Nick At Night on the new project!!!
Scott is great, my favorite being his stint on Arrested Development. The script was around while Pat and Trina were on JAG?, That show has been dead for awhile so if the script was around, and Baio is now onboard and its sold, must be BFF Hervey brought this back from the dead, I dont mean that bad, in fact im a Agent at a major and the field is crowded. Must be a good script, Baio is a big deal for Nick and Hervey is very agressive, Saw him speaking on a panel recently in Miami at NATPE. Smart guy. Hope you get a full season!
I can’t wait to see this. It sounds like this is gonna be a great show. I sure am not going to let haters opinions of Scott Baio, keep me from watching it. Best of luck to Nick At Night & Scott.
Why another sitcom with children, please stop doing this shit that you can do is your sleep. How about doing a sitcom with edge not syrup.
New sitcoms are fine, but bring back Mary Tyler Moore! I’ll prorbaby watch Scott’s show, but really prefer the oldies like Tool Time, etc.
I and other numerous fans are very much looking forward
to watching this upcoming project involving star Scott Baio,
friends Jason Hervey and Eric Bischoff as executive producers
to be written by Tina Albanese and Pat Labyorteaux.
On it’s surface, the show’s basic premise of pampered and spoiled
TV actor David Hobbs (Scott’s character) as an unprepared
stay-at-home dad taking care of his rambunctious kids
does seem highly promising.
It ultimately sounds like a “Malcolm In The Middle” revisionist look at “Charles-In-Charge”,
but with the virtuous hero’s selfish and troublesome alter ego Chaz
as the main protagonist here instead.
“Daddy’s Home” does feel a lot like “Chaz-In-Charge of-Malcolm”.
And that may be a good thing in the final analysis.
I think that this would be a good show.
