Nicollette Sheridan has landed what another fired star from a hit series, Charlie Sheen, has been desperately trying to get — a day in court. A judge today ruled that Sheridan’s wrongful-termination lawsuit over her firing from ABC’s Desperate Housewives can go to trial. Sheridan filed the complaint against ABC and Housewives creator and executive producer Marc Cherry in April 2010, claiming that he slapped her during an argument in September 2008 and, after she complained to the studio bosses about it, she was written off the show later that season. Sheridan’s case got a recent boost from a deposition by former Housewives writer-producer Lori Kirkland Baker, who contradicted ABC’s key argument that the decision for the demise of Sheridan’s character was made way before the alleged slapping incident. In the original complaint, Sheridan had also claimed discrimination and harassment based on sex, age and sexual orientation, something she dropped in January, as well as sexual harassment. The judge today threw out the sexual harassment portion, but Sheridan’s claims of battery, wrongful termination and unlawful retaliation will be argued in front of a jury. Unless, of course, the two sides settle, which often is the case when the release of sensitive company information in a public forum is at stake. “I’m very happy that I’m being treated fairly,” Sheridan was quoted as saying after the hearing.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

He’s an idiot for getting rid of her because the show really went downhill after she left. I’d much rather have continued to watch her bitchy antics each week than suffer through yet another in a long line of episodes of Lynnette emasculating that poor husband of hers as if her life depends on it. Should have gotten rid of Felicity Huffman instead. Sucks the energy out of the show every time she shows her haggard face.
I am not surprised at the execs. I am not an actor but same crap happened to me. Good Speed Ms. Sheridan, I will keep you in my prayers.
I hope Ms. Sheridan does go to trial and does not settle out of court. About time these POTB were exposed.
This talent lady deservers to win
I know there’s always doubt casted when Hollywood lawsuits mounts and as messy as this one sounded when it started I honestly think there’s a case here and Sheridan was done wrong on some level.
Seeing how they added the less interesting/but slightly similar character when they hired Vanessa Williams it’s not entirely clear why she got the boot unless it was indeed personally based.
Shhhessh….. She was the highlight of the entire show….and a great actress…..
Please bring her character back ; the other storylines are getting OLD , OLD , OLD.
Sexual Orientation? Does this mean because she felt like Marc Cherry discriminated against her because he’s gay and she’s straight, or is she trying to tell us something?
Now that we know what kind of company Steve McPherson was running while he was there, all this is starting to sound a lot more probable. I’d bet dollars to donuts that they settle with her before a jury hears one word.
Cheery, I hope that slap felt good cuz you are going to pay a nice big chunk of change for it… But look on the bright side, at least you didn’t have to go to jail for it like the rest of us working stiffs would have. ABC, pay the lady.
Nicollette, your beautiful, keep up the good fight.
Sheridan was an icon of night time soaps, and Cherry treating her badly. I could never understand why she was relegated to the fringes of the show, from day one, not even featured in the show’s promo spots. For a queen, Cherry sure misjudged some of his core fan base. Stopped watching the show years ago. Knot’s Landing forever.
Good for you, Nicollette. Something tells us the fat lady is gonna sing. THE Truth and nothing but the truth.
Go, Nicolette! There is no show on television that is more haggard, shopworn and threadbare than Desperate Housewives. Compared to what it started out as, it’s an embarrassment. The worst, schlockiest, schtickiest jokes I’ve seen in a long time. The kind you can see them coming a mile away. My 7 year old DAUGHTER sees them coming a mile away. Vanessa Williams is wasted. The botox on the ladies has reached levels where their facial expressions should really just be added in post production. And I agree with Basil — enough of that scene chewing Felicity Huffman and her repellant character and boring, doughy husband. ENOUGH!!! I’m so sick of seeing her huff and puff and hem and haw and him whine like a lil bitch. I’m sick of seeing Teri Hatcher make big brown eyes, fall, trip, cry, and hang naked from giant banners. Even such formerly fun characters as Mrs. McCluskey and the crazy woman with the finger stubs have become repetitive and burdensome. And while Eva Langoria is talented, her schtick is wearing mighty thin as well. I mean, cripes, how many episodes did they do with that frigging doll? Is it going to come back??? I can’t take it anymore — have banished it from my TiVo. Nicolette, I’m sure you had some unpleasant experiences, but at least you got the hell out!!!
