Paradigm has signed Arc Productions, the Toronto-based animation house that was formerly called Starz Animation after it was bought by a group of Canadian investors. Arc Productions projects include Gnomeo and Juliet, but the plan is to extend its animation and vfx service business by developing its own animated intellectual property.

Does anyone know who at Paradigm is going to handle the animation pitches for features?
I hear it was signed through the motion picture finance department…Andrew Ruf, Ben Weiss…
How’d they do in Cannes? They sold Devils Double and Beats, Rhymes at Sundance and Beautiful Boy and I think Insidious at Toronto
“Gnomeo and Juliet” was a major hit, these guys at Arc know what they’re doing. It’s nice that there is an outlet for creative expression and commerce in animation other than through DreamWorks and Pixar, which are a dead end for independent producers.
Starz Animation was a bit of a sleeping giant. Liberty Media didn’t know what to do with it, sounds like the Canadians are going for it.
Great sign for Paradigm.
