A competitive NBA playoff game on TNT that went into overtime, Miami vs. Boston, took a toll on the broadcast networks last night, with most series down from last week. The disintegration of CBS’ once-formidable Monday lineup continues. How I Met Your Mother (2.5/8) was down 11% from last week to tie its series low. Mad Love (1.8/5) was down 18% for a series low, Mike & Molly (2.2/5) and Hawaii Five-0 (2.3/6) were both down 8%. Both Mike & Molly and Hawaii Five-0 also hit new series lows for a second consecutive week. Once a demo leader on Mondays, CBS (2.1/6, 7.3 million) finished third behind ABC (3.8/10, 17.7 million) and Fox (2.3/6, 6.7 million).
ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (4.1/11) was down 9% from last week, while Castle (3.1/8) was up 7%. Castle was joined in the plus ratings column by Fox’s The Chicago Code (1.7/4, up 6%). Its lead-in, freshly renewed House (2.9/9) was flat, tying last week’s season low.
NBC’s bubble shows Chuck (1.3/4) and Law & Order: LA (1.2/3) didn’t boost their chances to come back with last night’s ratings performances, down 7% and 14%, respectively, and Chuck tying its series low. The Event (1.1/3), which is beyond the bubble and into graveyard territory, was down 15% and tied as series low.

They’re gonna regret firing Sheen here pretty soon. I wonder how many execs are going to get canned…
Don’t know about that… Charlie Sheen has made me completely avoid Two and Half Men since he is still on it.
I will be more than happy to watch the show if it comes back without him, but seeing him on that show in reruns or in any other form is not something I care to see. It is no longer funny. His reality has ruined the comedy of the show.
Charlie thinks people are not watching Two and Half Men reruns because he got fired. I think people are not watching them because he is still on the show in those reruns.
We will see with the reboot..time will tell..
Actually the ratings were pretty good even when his “meltdown” was all over the medias,it is after they decided to fire him that the ratings began to really drop..so we have to wonder..even if it is not what you want to hear Aeiouy..Moreover this show was based on his character and wild life-style..
I really like “The Chicago Code” and hope it goes for a second season!! It isn’t a perfect show, but definitely one that if given the chance can fix its problems easily. It has a great showrunner at the help, talented writers, and the acting is superb!!
the “Chicago Code” was one of the better shows out there and cancelling it when it made some gains is pretty foolish. This is a well written program. The actors are awesome and create wonderful caracatures. Don’t blow it FOX.
“Castle” is a beautifully shot show. It looks like it is shot on motion picture film. “Hawaii Five-0″ looks digital, sterile and artificial. It’s not surprising that “Castle” is kicking “Five-0′s” ass.
“Hawaii Five-0′s” digital look, makes Hawaii look horrible, what a waste. Compare the old “Lost” episodes, which were shot on film, to the new “Hawaii Five-0″. Which is more visually pleasing to watch?
You are right. 5-0 isnt a bad show but it is poorly shot – looks like attention deficit theater. Whats up with TV looking so cheap all of a sudden?
Viewer ratings down, maybe money is tight. I also think that the show was so hyped up it couldn’t possibly live up to what they were feeding people. I do like the show and but I think the way the show was promoted came back to bite them in the ass.
Dear Mad Love,
You’re awful. I gave you a chance every week. But you’re soooooo boring and uninteresting. I grouped you in the same category as Better With You, in that you both seemed mediocre at best, but I could use a nice, simple sitcom that would make me laugh without too much thinking. Well, like you, Better With You was shaky at first, but now the show has started to hit it’s stride, and it’s fun and funny and I’m a fan. You, Mad Love, actually put me to sleep. And your cast is arguably stronger than Better With You’s cast, too! Judy Greer! C’mon! She’s amazing. Such a shame. All four of the actors on your show are immensely talented. Again, Judy Greer! She may do 9,000 pilots every season, but there’s a reason: she’s fantastic.
Also, what’s with the narration? It’s so awkward and weird. Why is Larry telling this tale? That doesn’t make sense. Sounds like it was an afterthought in post-production, after a studio exec thought it might pull in How I Met Your Mother’s audience.
Sincerely,
Not a fan
Could Chuck’s numbers be because its tech-savvy audience watches it–at their own convenience– on Hulu rather than at a precise hour as dictated by some antiquated device from the 1940s?
I like the way you think.
Nope, the numbers are that because Chuck exceeded it’s life expectancy by 2 seasons.
This last season is just beyond ridiculous. The third season was ridiculously bad, this one is just a huge stretch.
There were some really great episodes in S3, like Nacho Sampler. Not nearly as good as standouts S1 and S2.
Since CASTLE is doing so well, how are they gonna have POE which is basically a period version of Castle on same network ( with much lower quality)?
Hawaii Five-0 suffers from extremely bad writing. There’s only so much the fans can take before they get bored and offended by the half-assed plotlines and character backstories so I don’t think this major drop in ratings is solely related to the Two and Half Men debacle. The addition of Larissa something, who’s allegedly a new series regular and can’t act her way out of a paper bag, magnifies the atrocious writing. Perhaps the principles in charge in the writer’s room should step down and give people with a little bit more talent and qualifications a chance to change things up and put some meat on the bones that is this series b/c it is dying right now. Some female writers would be much appreciated too so that the female characters have something more to do than just walk around in bikinis when they’re not holding jobs that they’re not actually qualified for. I love how a rookie who never even walked the beat and an office mouse can all of sudden be considered for field jobs with no proper training or experience whatsoever. I guess Oahu or, hell the whole state of HI, lacks qualified and experienced female officers and detectives who would be better choices to join the special task force that is 5.0. Needless to say I’m deleting this show off my DVR and sticking to browsing the web when I need an Alex O’Loughlin shirtless fix. I just feel so much for Scott Caan because he’s such an amazing actor and he’s stuck with this awful writing. It’s not even fun watching Steve and Danny going at it anymore and their rapport was the best thing on the show.
Pssst… no one’s tuning into H5-O to see The Wire. Girls in bikinis? More please. I really dig the show and Scott Caan’s reason alone to watch.
Scott is amazing but he can’t be expected carry the whole freakin’ show and even if he isn’t that good to continue making the writing seem like less of a joke. If the show becomes a chore to watch people tune out. You can see a girl in a bikini elsewhere on TV or even easier access on the web.
I have one word for you….AMEN!!!
CBS made a huge mistake moving CSI Miami that was still doing great, to put Hawaii 50 in its place.
Hawaii 50 has been losing numbers since day one. Nothing to do with Charlie Sheen.
The remake is all flash and no substance, And the casting is horrendous, especially the new McGarrett, stiff and bland.
Mike&Molly was ok for a few episodes, but how many fat jokes can you take.
And Mad Love a total flop.
I dumped all shows and I used to watch CBS Mondays. They are going to need better new shows to make me and others come back.
CBS screwed up with H50. Alex O is a horrible actor and is NO leading man. Scott Caan totally stole that show from him…but unfortunately even Scott can’t save it due to bad writing.
I like both actors and I think the show is good-not great but good. Still think they should shoot in LA or around there. They are so limited shooting on that stupid island. It would open them up for far better and broader story lines.
I think I speak for most of us men when I say get rid of that Kaye character. She is terrible and doesn’t make me want to watch this show. I have heard similar comments from other men. She does nothing for the show and being men absolutely nothing for us. Bring back Catherine!
Hmmm.. I don’t watch any of these shows. Should I be? If I were to pick one it would probably be “Castle”.
