Apologies for not filing a rating story earlier, it was a pretty big busy morning in TV news today. With the final ratings for last night in, here are the biggest highlights:
NBC’s The Office (3.5/10 in 18-49) was down 17% from last week’s episode, which marked the departure of star Steve Carell. It did better than the Carell’s penultimate episode.
NBC’s Parks and Recreation (2.5/7) was up 9% percent, while the season finale of 30 Rock (2.1/6) rose 11 percent. The paintball episode of Community (1.5/5), directed by the Russo brothers and guest starring Josh Holloway and Anthony Michael Hall, was up a tenth.
CBS’ and ABC’s scripted series were roughly on par, while ABC’s reality series Wipeout (1.4/5) tumbled 26% to a series low. On the flip side, Fox’s American Idol (6.3/20) was up 11%, and Bones (3.2/9) up almost as much.
In bubble-show watch, CW’s Nikita (1.9 million, 0.8/2) improved, while NBC’s Outsourced (1.5/4) was down 18%. Looking good for Nikita and not good for Outsourced.

And The Office’s ratings will continue to drop if Will Ferrell continues past this week’s episode.
Great episode of “BONES”! Maybe the best all season
The Office dropped from Steve Carell’s much-hyped farewell episode, but was higher than the regular episode the week before. What an exaggerated headline. All for the sake of a click, huh?
Steve’s departure was a great episode to end the series with.
The writing has been really poor all of this season, and that was the one episode that really had something.
Ferrell just is not going to work unless they sort out his character, it’s supposed to be a mockumentary, but it’s looking a lot like juvenile farce right now. There’s ZERO truth in the character, it’s totally unbelievable now — and not at all funny.
Time for new writers — or just end the show.
This is the most misleading headline. Come on Nellie. Of course the ratings drop this week on The Office…last weeks were higher because it was Carell’s last episode. But they were HIGHER than the week before, WITH Carell. Sooooo technically they really didn’t drop without him did they?
Outsourced is such a great show! I can’t believe it’s probably gone.
Yeah I hope it makes it to next season… it is fresh and unique…
OUTSOURCED will not be cancelled. Nellie — I just think you don’t like nor get this show.
Hope Nikita is renewed. But I’ve noticed recent episodes seem to be accelerating the pace of reveals, characters being killed off and various storylines; I’m wondering if the producers are trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible b/c they feel cancellation is inevitable?
What about The Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy?
Im an Office fan and like Ferrell, but his character on The Office is crap. More improve than mockumentary.
Don’t generally watch Community, because it’s just not that funny, but the Paintball episode was thoroughly entertaining. Hope it gets some Emmy love for directing.
