ReelzChannel has entered into a production deal with Asylum Entertainment to develop and produce original scripted series for the fledgling network. Asylum and Joel Surnow recently produced the controversial miniseries The Kennedys, which ReelzChannel picked up after its original network, History, passed at the last minute. Under the deal, ReelzChannel and Asylum expect to have a new series launching on the network in 2013 or as early as late next year and will develop and produce other scripted and unscripted projects together. Asylum president and chief creative officer Jonathan Koch will oversee development, with Surnow serving as a consulting executive.

But Reelz won’t have the hug publicity advantage created around the Kennedys…especially, the fact that no one wanted to run the series mostly because it was not good.
The series quality did not generate the ratings…the bad press and everlasting fascination with the Kennedy family did…and, possibly Katie Holmes.
Reelz will still remain the channel known by the question, “Where is it located?”
This is a Great move for REELZ…The Kennedy Special was great and now they still are moving forward..Nice Job REELZ…
Is this the same Asylum that makes all the grade Z movies that end up on the SyFy Channel?
No it’s not.
Congrats to Asylum and REELZ! I’m looking forward to the next series.
Wow..Jeff Benson @ Paradigm finally sold something, although Surnow prolly did all the work per usual.
rod perth made that marriage.
Since “The Kennedys” that I enjoyed a lot of people have found the Reelz channel. Up till the mini-series I never heard of Reelz.
I look forward to more programing and more jobs for actors.
Its still a good news that ReelzChannel and Asylum Entertainment are joining hands as long as Sony is not coming and buy them all.
