Fox and 20th Century Fox TV have made Saffron Burrows’ departure from the upcoming Bones spinoff The Finder official. The producers of the show had put off making the final decision on her future until after the upfronts, but her character in the episode of Bones, which served as a planted spinoff for The Finder, was controversial, drawing polarizing reaction from fans of the show. That led to talk about completely reconceptualizing the character. The Finder star Geoff Stults and his sidekick Michael Clarke Duncan were the only ones approached about joining Bones while star Emily Deschanel is on maternity leave as a backup plan if The Finder hadn’t gotten a full-blown series order. And Fox only flew in Stults and Duncan for its upfront presentation last week where the carefully edited clip for the show practically didn’t feature Burrows.

Did I miss something? How can anything on “Bones” be “controversial”? Course I only watched it once so what do I know. It’s just procedural police TV with a “House”-style spin. Not my thing…
Still don’t understand the “fans” of Bones thing. Outside of having the same creator the two shows have NOTHING in common. It’s like saying you’ll like the Big Bang Theory because you like Two And A Half Men. The Finder should have been announced as a spin-off of Burn Notice. That’s what it is.
Pity. She’s a good actress.
Finder Schminder. Yech.
i feel badly for her, because public announcements like this are embarrassing. but this lady ALWAYS lands on her feet, trust me.
How was her character controversial? Because she was a woman named Ike? I don’t get it.
I actually saw the episode and I thought that her performance was better than Michael Clarke Duncan’s (the man is in need of some acting lessons).
So, did a bunch of bitter housewives gang up on Hart Hanson and demand the smart, funny chick be removed from the show? I don’t get it. I thought The Finder looked like a perfectly serviceable show with the trio they had. What was so objectionable about her character?
@jinlee: MCD is an Academy Award nominated actor. I think his acting credentials are without doubt. Your opinion, however is quite questionable.
Uh…out of the three of them which one has an Oscar nomination? Just saying…..
The enitre show The Finder needs to be replaced.
The pilot/spinoff was really BAD.
The posts on Bones fansites were overall negaitve toward The
Finder.
I have no interest either way about who stays or leaves The
Finder. Why, I will not bother wathching it.
Sad, because Saffron was one of the few reasons that drew me to The Finder, if not the only one. Now I’m not sure I’m still gonna watch it.
From watching the show that launched this ‘Finder’ spin-off I really liked her and they all had their nitch. I don’t understand what the problem could be?
Someone please explain…
Because Oscars (much less merely a nomination) have anything to do with talent. LMAO! Thanks for the laugh, kids.
Somebody at Fox really thinks The Finder has a chance. Seriously there’s no place for it. It will fail.
An Oscar does not have anything to do with talent? Tell that to Meryl Streep, Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman … Go back to Kansas, Dorothy. Find your friend the Scarecrow and ask for his brain!
The writing and acting on the pilot was L A M E. The characters were majorly in need of depth. WElcome to 2011. And the hair dept should have done a better job on Mr Stults hairpiece. Horribly distracting.
