EXCLUSIVE: After lengthy negotiations, Criminal Minds co-star Shemar Moore has closed a deal to return to the CBS crime drama next season. I hear that he will be doubling his salary to about $100,000 an episode, up from just north $50,000 per episode under his old agreement. With Moore set, Thomas Gibson is the only remaining cast member without a deal to return, with negotiations ongoing. Gibson’s reps wouldn’t comment beyond stating that “Thomas would love to continue on Criminal Minds.” While he is the only Criminal Minds actor without a deal, Gibson is not the only cast member whose future on the show is uncertain. Series producer ABC Studios has an option on Paget Brewster, which it can exercise if Brewster’s NBC comedy pilot My Life As an Experiment doesn’t go to series. Judging by industry buzz, that seems to be the case but we will have to wait until NBC makes its pickups in the next two days to know for sure. Joe Mantegna and Matthew Gray Gubler are set to return, as is A.J. Cook, who recently inked a new 2-year deal.

I agree with you. I wouldn’t watch it without him. But I am happy to know that at least one of them has renewed their contracts. I’m sure that Thomas will be signed as well. I’d be VERY surprised if that were not the case.

Julie did you mean Morgan (Shemar Moore) or did you get some super advanced news on Thomas Gibson just there? I’m thrilled that Morgan is definitely coming back, but the queasy feeling would be gone completely if I knew Hotch was back as well.
That’s great for Shemar Moore, now get Thomas Gibson signed. Criminal Minds without Hotch would not be Criminal Minds. I wouldn’t be the same show and I wouldn’t watch it anymore.
The show will defintely not the same with Hotch. I was so upset when Mandy Patinkin left.

Not worry about Gibson, things like this go down to the wire.
That would be a fair thing to ask of CM fans if last season’s negotiations, which I don’t think anyone had been previously worried about, hadn’t gone so horribly wrong. I don’t even trust the people involved to tie their shoelaces correctly without supervision now, lol. I’m not counting Thomas’ contract as a done deal until his deal is actually done!

Seriously eh? I can’t believe he was making only $50,000. They work so hard and earn so little…and you hear about those people makeing $1 million an episode and still want more money..
Well I work as hard as they do (with the same hours) and don’t even get 3% a month off what they made LOL And with his salary now I don’t even get 1 1/2% :S So they are doing alright I think

I’m very happy for Shemar – he so deserves it.
However, if Thomas Gibson’s contract is not renewed, I can truthfully say that I would not watch CM again. I have followed his career over the years and not only is he a gifted and talented actor but also a kind and wonderful person who knows his life’s priorities and sticks to them – a rarity in this industry. No matter what the outcome is regarding his negotiations with CM, Mr. Gibson will go far in his career — and in life.
But if TPTB think that the show would be the same without Hotch, they are greatly mistaken. It was heartbreaking to see what they did to this wonderful cast this past season and I’m so glad they realized they were wrong and AJ is back and hopefully Paget (although I wish her the very best in whatever she choses as she too is very talented and deserves nothing but the best). I am also very proud to be one of the fans of CM who are not afraid to speak out and voice their opinion — it does matter.
But for me personally, no Hotch, no show. There are only a few entertaining and worthwhile shows on TV anymore and Criminal Minds happens to be one of them. And the reason for this is not only the good writing but also the wonderful cast of talented actors who bring the stories to life. It is the cast who the fans fell in love with and the reason why we follow the show week in and week out and make it one of the top shows on TV today. Any further changes to this show would only bring it to a very sad, untimely end. Perhaps TPTB have learned from their past mistake and Mr. Gibson will get a contract that he deserves. And hopefully soon!!
Has CM been picked up for next year? I read it still hasn’t been. We may be getting ahead of ourselves here.
I read AJ Cook has signed on for seasons 7 & 8. I’m so glad she’s back. They need to bring Prentiss back and finish out her story line. They left it opened for a reason. Dump the new girl…there’s no personality there and she seems to just melt into the background.

No Thomas Gibson, No Criminal Minds. Mr. Gibson is the heart and soul of CM and has been so under appreciated for many seasons. He deserves top billing, an executive producer credit and triple the salary for his value and contribution to CM.
With the money they pay all of these other actors whose series don’t do half as well in the ratings or demos as CM, the CM cast has been grossly underpaid over the years. It’s time for Mr. Gibson and the rest of the CM cast to reap the rewards of the efforts.
I’m happy Shemar Moore got double his salary. Thomas Gibson should get that and more. He’s a gorgeous, talented ambassador for CBS and ABC. and he’s a class act to his fans.
And let’s quickly work on getting Paget Brewster back; and say good-by to Rachel Nichols and the Seaver character.
I am glad “JJ” is back and that “Derek Morgan” is getting a raise. I am sure “Aaron Hothcner” will get a great deal and that “Emily Prentiss” will return.
As far as Rachel Nicols I have no idea what they were thinking. She does not belong on “Criminal Minds” and from what I hear they are going to write her off and it is not going to be in a graceful way which means that they will probably kill her character in the “Criminal Minds” way.
Mandy Patinkin left due to his own choice not the network’s. After 2 seasons on the show he left because although Patinkin was prepared for the show to include violence the actual level of violence portrayed was unacceptable to the actor. He left to do more light hearted work. One of his kids’ first name is Gideon. Hmmm…I wonder if that is where the writers of the show got “Jason Gideon” from. He was good for his time on the show. I like Joe Mantegna better though.
$100,000.00 up from $50,000.00 per episode is an insult to Mr. Moore or any character on Criminal Minds. No wonder negotiations are still on going for Thomas Gibson. I can only imagine what they are attempting to offer him to return. No wonder Shemar only signed up for one more season. And I am one of the shows biggest and addicted fans. Les Moonves who got over $14,000,000.00 plus in bonus last year needs to come out of pocket more. God knows CBS has the money. Jerks!!!
