The last of Ben Silverman’s three musketeers who launched Reveille with him is leaving parent company Shine Group. Chris Grant, who has served as president of sales and distribution arm Shine International since Shine’s 2008 acquisition of Reveille, will depart later this year, along with his top lieutenant, EVP John Pollak. The move is a result of News Corp-owned Shine Group’s decision to relocate the headquarters of its sales and distribution unit to London, where Shine’s main offices are, from Los Angeles.
Grant, who has chosen not to relocate, will work through a six-month transitional period and help in the search for a London-based successor. Shine Group President Alex Mahon will be taking oversight of Shine International in the interim. ”At this stage of the company’s growth, Shine International needs its headquarters alongside our teams that manage and exploit group formats, brands and digital rights, with local sales experts in our global production centres of excellence,” Mahon said.
Shine International will keep a presence in LA with a small office.
Pollak will continue in his role as Head of Sales until the end of the year, remaining in the US. SVP Business and Operations Martin Rakusen will relocate to the London office. “I am incredibly proud of the substantial growth that Shine International has achieved since we started the company, and particularly in the last few years since joining the Shine Group,” Grant said. “These changes are absolutely right for the business at this point in its development, however, LA is my home, and rather than relocate, it is also a good time for me to allow my colleagues to build on the success we have, together, created.” Grant was one of a core troika Silverman brought with him from WMA when he launched Reveille in 2002, along with Mark Koops and Howard T. Owens, who recently departed Reveille.

Chris and John are amazingly talented and extremely smart guys, I’m sure they will do even greater things soon!!
Is that John Pollak or Mario Lopez?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
I have had the honor of working with Chris and John! Extremely talented and great people to work with. I hope that I get the opportunity to work with them in the future!! Good luck guys!
Sad to see them go, but know Chris and John will do even better things in the future. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for them!
It was an awesome run, guys – not many people can say they left their mark on the international formats business the way you have. You definitely taught me a lot, and I look forward to our paths crossing down the road. Good Luck!!
Haaaaahaaaa. Ben’s assistant’s are gone. Once he sold they had to let their contracts run out. R was a one man shop. Ben. These guys were not effective nor educated enough nor sophisticated enough to compete at that level. This is clear. It played out perfectly for Shine. Dead weight is gone.
Chris and John are amazing to work with and, most importantly, are genuinely good people. They are both exceptional leaders and will definitely succeed at whatever they do next!
These guys are so talented and hard-working – they will do bigger and better things. Shine’s loss . . .
Chris and John are some of the most talented ppl in this biz, and have accomplished more in their years than most can say in a lifetime. Thier genuine, honest and hardworking attitudes have surrounded them with loyal colleagues, and I have no doubt that their futures look very bright! All the best guys!
Re-hired in a nano second. Both absolute workhorses, who combine charm with results. Johnny Pollack is a sweetheart and Chris has a huge heart.
Shine should be called Drizzle. Alex Mahon is a first rate executive, his skirts are just long enough to cover his junk…what has he got on Liz?
This is Shine’s loss. And our gain.
I would fire my sales team and hand it over to them in a heartbeat.
Kudos to you guys for a perfect run from a competitor.
