EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Hunnam, best known for playing biker Jax Teller in Kurt Sutter’s superb FX series Sons of Anarchy, is negotiating to star in Pacific Rim for director Guillermo del Toro. The Legendary Pictures film, scripted by Travis Beacham, is set in a future where giant malevolent creatures threaten to destroy the earth, city by city. To combat its annihilation, the planet must band together and use highly advanced weapons technology to eradicate the growing threat. So once again, Hunnam will be kicking some ass.
Pacific Rim will be produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, along with del Toro. Callum Greene will executive produce. Legendary’s running point on the picture, but it will be done through the company’s overall agreement with Warner Bros. Pacific Rim surfaced as an important movie when del Toro focused his attention on it as his next film after Universal halted At the Mountains of Madness, which del Toro was going to make with Tom Cruise.
Hunnam just starred in the drama The Ledge, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and he just completed in Blackbird opposite Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde. Hunnam’s repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

I’ve never watched Sons of Anarchy, but he was awesome way back in Undeclared!
He was even more awesome before Undeclared – as a gay 15-year-old in the UK version of Queer As Folk.
Isn’t he way older than what they imagined for the lead?
He can play 12-60. It’s called “acting”.
Obviously Del Toro watches SONS OF ANARCHY – because of Ron Perlman!
So let’s take bets: American accent vs British accent. Which one will it be?
Despite him being from Manchester, his American accent’s far better than his British…have you seen Green Street?!
he is from Newcastle, not Manchester.
Love him in Sons of Anarchy. Glad to see him get some more offers in feature films. I still think he’d make a great possiblity for the biopic on Kurt Cobain…assuming a studio can make it without Courtney Love in the middle of it.
Glad for Charlie, but they need to get a new title for the movie. This one reminds me of that Asian porno called “Pacific Rim Job”. So gross.
“…but it will be done through the company’s overall agreement with Warner Bros.” So does this mean it will be a WB release? Or Legendary releases on its own?
And 2012 or 2013 release?
Go Charlie! Amazing actor!
I agree he has a lot of features in his face that make him look a lot like Kurt
YES! I loved him in Queer as Folk (uk).
Charlie Hunnam for Daredevil!!! He would fit perfectly with David Slade’s vision for a gritty Daredevil
ONE MOVIE.. that no one has mentioned.. that sold me on this guy’s ability to perform on screen…
GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS..
If you haven’t seen it, I suggest you watch it.. and it would answer the accent thing too.. British
Yes! He was amazing in GSH!
Hunnam is a great actor. I’m glad to see him finally getting some feature film roles, and hopefully he is excited about them. I think he would have made a great Thor.
Charlies English accent is way better than his American one, but since hes from England then its only natural. His Geordie accent was better again, but thats where hes from. Loved him in Sons of Anarchy and Green Street.
When I first met Charlie on SOA I was some what taken back to find out after I met him that he was staring the show…. He was such a down to earth guy it took a few days of filming for me to realize what roll he was playing… All around he was a great guy to talk with and always had a fun attitude off camera…..
can u tell me when they are comeing back on
