It was a big Saturday Night Live reunion on Jimmy Fallon’s Jersey Shore spoof video last night, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler joining Fallon and fellow former SNL cohort Rachel Dratch. Fey and Poehler guest starred on the latest edition of Jersey Floor, the popular video series on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, which stars Jimmy “J-Bro” Fallon, Josh “DJ Josh” Meyers, Steve “The Inflation” Higgins, Rachel “Drootchie” Dratch, Abby “Lovebug” Elliott and A.D. “Miles” Miles. In it, everyone who takes the NBC elevator to Jersey floor is transformed into a character that would be typical on the smash MTV reality hit. Also making a cameo is new NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke, who bumps into Fey and Poehler as they are to board the elevator. “30 Rock and Parks and Rec are two of my favorite shows,” Burke says to the stars of the two comedies. “The new NBC, nowhere to go but up!” Fey responds sarcastically as she gets into the elevator. You can probably guess the outcome, and yes, a fight with the Snookie-like Drootchie is in the cards. Here is the video:

I give Fallon credit… He’s the late night host having the most fun.
This spoof, the Friday song with Colbert and a funny interview with Elmo the other night. Making all the other late night hosts look old and bored/boring.
Don’t forget ?uestlove of The Roots (Fallon’s official band) making bookend appearances… (he’s the big black guy with the afro)
These kinds of sketches are exactly the niche that Jimmy Fallon needed to find. His monologues and interviews aren’t all that noteworthy, but when he gets to play characters or do impressions, he’s in his element! Throw in his cutting-edge musical bookings and some great recurring bits (thank you notes), and it’s a solid variety show that comes closer to the Carson tradition than most of his late night cohorts, while being unafraid to forge into new territory. I guess that’s the luxury of the 12:37 AM time slot!
Well that sounds a little like a press release but I agree. He’s still a crap interviewer but a lot of his bits are good…to me, the “Head Swap” videos are up there with the best of what Conan did on the show.
Time to drop the tired attack on Fallon’s interview skills. This is a critique left over from when he was first starting out. It was the same for Conan. Fallon conducted GREAT interviews last night. Better than the sketch. Yes, he was helped a bit by virtue of who his guests were. Tina Fey is a master at engaging banter, but last year Fallon would have gotten in her way. Now he knows how to run with her. Tom Welling has tremendous charisma, but nobody knew he could also be so suave and hilarious. Fallon deserves credit drawing that out. Fallon’s interview skills has improved greatly and keeps on improving. It is time for people to acknowledge that.
A little late to the party with the Jersey Shore sketch, no?
Jimmy may be having fun, but are we? Somebody needs to point out what was funny in that sketch. There wasn’t anything beyond a brief smile generated for me.
People have different ideas of funny moron. It was funny to some people.
Fallon is a third rate talent compared to the one and only Mr. Jay Leno, who is much funnier, more cutting edge and a really nice guy to boot. Jay is Nice to his employees and nice to his aging fans.
