EXCLUSIVE: Dennis Haysbert, former star of Fox’s 24 and CBS’ The Unit, has signed with UTA. He was previously at ICM. On the feature side, Haysbert co-stars in the Sundance entry The Details, which was picked up by the Weinstein Co, and voices a lead in the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 2. He is currently in Baltimore shooting the indie drama Learning Uncle Vernon. On stage, Haysbert made his Broadway debut last summer in David Mamet’s Race.

Hopefully, they will have him do something other than Allstate commercials. He is so talented!
Pedro Cerrano: I’m pissed off now, Jobu. Look, I go to you. I stick up for you. You don’t help me now. I say “Fuck you,” Jobu, I do it myself.
You had me for a minute…I knew the quote but couldn’t place it … then it came to me, MAJOR LEAGUE. Very nice. Grew up watching that film.
Haysbert is great. Loved him in FAR FROM HEAVEN. A true talent that shouldn’t be doing Allstate commercials which lowers his image (insurance, really) and his credibility as an actor. Who was protecting him on that???? Oh wait, I guess that’s why he changed agents. Don’t go for the short end money, grifter agent, go for the career.
he’s still with his commercial agent at william morris
Yeah but his “team” should have never let him do that campaign. Because people know his as the All State dude, instead of by roles he plays, and he won’t be taken seriously….or at the very least, like the other dude says, it just lessens his credibility as an actor.
You don’t see serious actors doing insurance commercials. Sure, De Niro (if you can call him serious anymore) did AmEx (they do finance his cute little film festival), but he’s already built his career and he sold out a long time ago, there’s nothing to really ruin. Someone on Haysbert’s team should have thought about his image. A serious actor should not do an insurance commercial.
That’s all state, Stan.
Are you in good hands?
No wonder he has the lousy feature acting career he has. No focus at icm and now on to another warehouse. Let’s see how long it takes before they slam him into tv again. Sad
he’s in good hands now…
hearing he’s staying at WME for commercials and voiceovers – he knows where his bread is buttered – allstate pays him gazillions for those ads
Cheers to UTA for signing “The Big D”. Maybe now he will get some great roles to play.
Nice. I see what you did there.
I agree Becca, I miss seeing him around. And it is good seeing your name again.
I wish I could have seen him in RACE. He would have been much more interesting in that role. Let’s hope we can see him in the next Mamet film as well (unless it is still Anne Frank, of course).
President Palmer!
Great Actor.
One of the reasons Allstate has kept him as spokesperson for the last eight years is that his personal image matches their product. In marketing, image is everything. Dennis Haysbert is solid, stable, attractive, and has a nobility about everything he does. He plays characters who are trustworthy and he’s completely believable in a leadership role. I’d listen to a pitch from him no matter what he was selling.
No doubt he makes good money doing Allstate commercials and he’s instantly recognizable. I mute commercials – except his. I don’t want to miss that butter and velvet voice.
This man is so incredibly talented……I can’t believe someone hasn’t snatched him up for something big. All you have to do is see him in The Unit, and you are completely sold on his talent.
